The guard's silhouette started to turn as Sam quickly yanked Oliver down putting a hand over the taller's mouth his eyes focused solely on the guard. He was unaware that Oliver was staring at him with terror at the idea of being caught he felt like he wanted to turn back at. Oliver had heard stories of what would happen if an angry noble caught someone they hated doing something against their rules on their land. The noble's land they were crossing specifically would try to kill Samuel for stealing so much from them; usually, a person who had stolen would be in their prison for a day or so more if it was worth more than a gold coin the equivalent of fifty silver or five hundred copper. It's well known that Samuel has stolen more than that far more to be exact so Oliver was mostly worried about what'd happen to Sam.
Without much warning, to Oliver, Samuel started forwards keeping close to the ground staring at the guard his dark cyan eyes seemed brighter in the light of the moon. The shorter male lunged at the guard incapacitating him with a blow to the neck before he darted in behind the hedge motioning for Oliver to follow. Oliver rushed to Sam's side as his heart rate rose in fear seeing the unconscious guard. Sam whispered," it's fine he's not dead I've never killed anyone however I can't allow the others to be alerted not so soon." Oliver frowned a bit before asking," are you certain there's no other way around here? The last thing I want to deal with is us getting caught." "Oliver if you're so worried that you're going to be distracted the rest of the way go home this time there's no room for second thoughts," Sam stated with a stern look.
Silence hung between the two of them when Sam started to make his way towards a boulder about halfway across the field Oliver watched with conflicting emotions such as worry, fear, panic, and annoyance for being left. He reluctantly followed after his friend not wishing to leave him alone to deal with this. They neared the boulder when a guard shouted, from nearby" there's someone here!" Sam growled to himself as he grabbed Oliver's wrist sprinting across the field making sure to avoid the guards that were sprinting towards them. The guards were mainly trained for close combat only a handful could use a gun however as the two neared the edge of the woods there was a shot that echoed across the field. The shot was accompanied by a cry of pain before silence consumed the land the guards making their way closer to the two's last visible location. However, reaching it they saw nothing more than a blood splatter and a small trail towards the woods. One of the guards, a well-built man holding a rifle, shouted:" find them I don't care if it'll take all night!"
Further ahead Oliver was holding Sam up as they were rushing forwards Oliver worried carrying a worried expression while Samuel was grimacing in pain. There was an occasional drip as the two made their way further into the woods until they reached a cave in which Oliver gently helped the shorter male sit down. He said, lightly tapping Sam's cheek as he started to doze off" come on stay with me Sam." The shorter male let out a pitiful whine one that Oliver had never heard from him since they became friends, which made the taller start worrying. He looked down at Sam's leg which had been shot in the side in which was about two inches above his knee however it didn't seem to hit any vital veins or bones. Samuel stared at the taller with a dazed look in which Oliver said:" just stay with me Sam don't worry you're going to be fine." He started to apply pressure onto the wound, with a piece of cloth he ripped from one of his shirt's sleeves, getting a grimace from the shorter male his cyan eyes clouded in pain. Oliver dearly wished he could try to soothe his friend's pain however he knew they didn't have any sedatives only enough medical supplies to keep a wound from getting infected or bleeding too much. After five minutes of applying pressure to the wound, he gently removed the cloth to ensure the wound was no longer bleeding. After the cloth was removed he relaxed seeing there wasn't a bullet lodged into the leg with that easing Oliver's mind he got to cleaning the wound.
Samuel would have jerked his leg away if he could, however, Oliver was pinning it so instead Sam bit his hand to muffle a sharp cry of pain. The dishwater blonde-haired male liked having Oliver around he did however as of this moment he just wanted to sock the taller man in the face. Oliver finally started to bandage the wound while the shorter male just glared at him with a pained expression. Samuel said, through gritted teeth revealing four somewhat sharp canines:" we need to move we've wasted to much time." He got up with Oliver's help who wanted to protest however knew it was useless knowing the shorter wasn't going to listen anyway. Soon enough the two were stumbling through the forest Samuel limping as quickly as he could while Oliver was tripping over tree roots. This was due to the fact Sam was the one who could see better in the dark steering clear of roots unlike the taller. "Sam you need to take it slow or you'll reopen the wound that's all I'm asking is for you to slow down a bit," Oliver pleaded with his friend hoping that he'd understand.
Those tired pained dark cyan eyes looked back at the hazel-eyed man before Sam let out a sigh slowing his pace somewhat glad that he did. The pain in his leg was almost excruciating however he knew they couldn't stop to let his leg rest the guards wouldn't be too far behind. Samuel ended up tripping on a tree's root hissing in pain he grabbed his leg as if trying to get the pain to vanish while Oliver came running to his side. Oliver let out a sigh of relief as he saw in what light managed to reach them through the trees revealing the bandages didn't have fresh blood on them. "Sam I think it would be better if I carried you I know I'm not as strong as you, however, we don't need your wound reopening," the tall man stated. The shorter let out a huff before he stated," fine just get us as far away as you can they're still onto us I just know it." Oliver seemed relieved as he bent down allowing Samuel to climb onto his back before Oliver stood wobbling a bit. He started walking forwards with a small smile as the shorter man laid his head on Oliver's shoulder, appearing to be either asleep or starting to fall asleep. Sam took a while to fall asleep because of the worry that they'd end up caught at the rate they were going. He could only wish that the guard didn't have horses or they would be in serious trouble since he couldn't even run correctly at this point.
