Konumunikari opened her eyes almost rapidly. She sat up quickly but felt a pain in her side as she did. Clutching her side she looked around confused.
"A hospital room? But...but how?"
A man with brown hair, glasses and a white coat walked round the curtain and stood by the bottom of the bed.
"Miss T'aishei. Your awake, good. My names Doctor Toshinori Sheintowa." He shook her hand. "It is good to see your finally conscious.
"Doctor, what happened to me?" Konnie asked with desperation. "How am I even alive? It's not possible... All I remember is walking down an alley way... I was following someone..." Her eyes widened.
"You were attacked by a Ghoul. But you were miraculously saved by a CCG officer. He would like to question what you saw happen. But only when you are ready." Sheintowa lifted one of his noted papers. "Your heart did indeed stop for 5 minutes, but thanks to modern day medicine, we were able to stitch you up and bring you back. But, we had to replace some of your organs, with your attackers. He was killed by the officer we believe just after you lost consciousness." He walked over beside the bed and sat on a chair.
Konnie edged a bit.
"Is there no side effects?" She asked with concern
"So far none. The organs were luckily compatible." Konnie breathed a sigh of relief and smiled.
"Thank you very much Doctor Sheintowa."
Sheintowa smiled.
"Another miraculous thing is that it seems you have recovered fully. All that was left was waiting for you to wake up. You were unconscious for 3 days. Your brother visited, he's making a rapid recovery after his attack. We are able to discharge you today. But we urge you if there's any other problems, please come and sees us immediately." Konnie nodded. Sheintowa got up. "So, I'll leave you to it to get ready. And I'll contact the CCG and let them know your awake." Konnie nodded again.
"Thank you again Doctor." Sheintowa nodded and walked out the room.
Konnie sat down on the bed for a minute and thought.
"I'm alive? It just seems so impossible. It just can't be..."
She got up and got dressed back into her clothes. She made the hospital bed and then took a chair to the window staring out at the city. In that moment a CCG inspector walked in.
"Miss T'aishei? May I come in?"
Konnie nodded.
"Thank you." He came in and sat down on a chair opposite her. "My names Sōsuke Abarai. I'm an inspector from the CCG. Could you tell me what you remember happened that night in the alley?"
Konnie nodded. She explained everything that happened that night in the alley.
"Thank you very much." Abarai said closing his notebook. He walked out the room and Konnie looked back out the window.
After talking to front desk and signing out she was finally out of the hospital. She walked to her car, unlocked it and got in. She laid back in her seat closing her eyes.
"Food. That's what I need. I'll get something on the way home."
She started the engine, put her seatbelt on, let the handbrake go and drove out of the car park.
