Author's notes: I'm back with a new story! If you are new to my stories, great, cause I ain't the best writer! If you're not new, welcome back! Now let's dive right into the life of Ahri! This is just a snippet for you guys just to set our main character up. This is not the first chapter! Also, this doesn't mean I'm going to be uploading a chapter next week, but you guys will know when the chapter comes. Also, also, don't sue me if the art is yours. Enjoy.

Morning rush hour just passed for Juju's coffee shop which meant Ahri had two more hours on her shift before going home and finishing up packing. Two more hours of listening to her boss, Dale, lecture other co-workers for 'slacking' while on the job.

Ahri sighed and leaned on the counter as she waited for the next rush to come. The clock ticking on the wall was like watching paint dry. Ahri was sure she would die of boredom.

"Ahri!" A deep voice shouted from the back room.

The booming voice made the hairs on Ahri's tail stand up. Dale was not happy with her about something, but what could it possibly be.

Ahri hopped off the steps that led to the cash register and walked briskly to the back room where Dale would be waiting.

Her co-workers looked at her with concern. Ahri had never gotten in trouble at work and she had always been extremely nice to the customers and her fellow workers. So this was new to all of them.

Ahri pushes open the large wooden door with the help of Dale pulling it open for the fox.

The lion man flicked his tail back and forth, his ears perked up and on alert. The lion-like hybrid glared at Ahri.

"Do you know why I called you in here?" The lion growls.

Ahri, being a much shorter person compared to other human hybrids, quivered in fear. "N-no, sir."

Dale's towering seven-foot, eight-inch size easily crushed Ahri's two feet and nine inches. So it was no wonder the small fox was nervous.

The snarled look on the man's blond bearded face curls into a smile. "I called you in here to tell you, that you've gotten a pay raise. The owner has been watching you for a while now and has promoted you to assistant manager."

Ahri couldn't believe it, this is exactly what she's needed in order to succeed in college. The extra boost of money will get her the books she needed. Not to mention it'll help pay her part when moving into an apartment.

"Thank you so much," Ahri exclaims with a large smile. "Juju doesn't know how much this means to me! Thank you, thank you, thank you. I'll make sure you guys won't regret it."

The man chuckled. "Settle down there foxy, you don't want to get too excited. You still have two more hours of work."

That quickly killed the mood for Ahri. She groaned, realizing that she still has to sit here and work for that extra pay during the most boring part of the day.

Dale scratches his beard while thinking. "Well... I guess I could let you go early if you work hard."

Ahri shook her head. "Thank you, Dale, but I don't think I'll take up your early release. I need the money in order to go to college."

The lion smiles and pats Ahri on the head, right between her ears. "You're a good kid, Ahri, just don't work yourself to death."

Ahri goes ridged feeling the large hand on her head. Her pointy orange ears flatten against her head as a sign of discomfort.

"Oops, sorry kiddo, I forgot that you're not much of a touchy, feely kind of person." The lion senselessly apologizes before walking out of the back room.

Ahri shakes the stiff feeling off her back. She holds her fluffy organ and white tail for comfort.

The poor girl has always struggled with being touched since her younger years, but now is not the time to remember the past. It's time to work on the here and the now.

"Ahri, we got more costumers coming in!" Dale shouts from the front now.

That seems to snap Ahri out of her small trance. "Coming!"

For now, Ahri has everything figured out. A stable job to help pay for college and getting ready to take the next step in life. But she doesn't know how wild college life is going to get.
