Buttercup had been surrounded by her perfectly beautiful sisters in a perfectly beautiful house with a perfectly beautiful life...
Problem was, she wasn't perfect... not in the slightest.
She was a pathological liar with a habit of, well, lying.
"Hey BC!" Her perfect sister Blossom called out, "Do you have your copy of the homework? I left mine in class."
Yes, she did. In fact, she also had the answer key, but that didn't matter. She wouldn't tell.
"No, I never do, sis."
Frowning, her sister pushed past her and emptied her bag, pulling out the answer key AND homework.
"You know I can tell when your lying, right?" Her redhead sister cocked a brow and ruffled her hair.
And that wasn't a lie. No matter what, she could never successfully lie to her sisters.
And so she lied, and kept lying because well... life was a lie, wasn't it?
Three years later, she was in seventh grade.
Her sister Bubbles had a boyfriend and Blossom had an on-and-off. Both boys had a middle brother named Butch.
Butch never lied. He was a lot of things, a bully, fighter, but never a liar.
So it seemed fitting that they would be partnered up for a project together.
"So, Butters? What did you get on the test?" Butch asked, pissed after he had failed.
Buttercup felt bad, so she didn't tell him she got an 'A'. Instead, she lied.
"Nah, I failed too."
"Damn Butterfly! We might beat the stupid blonds in the family!" He snorted, "See you in detention."
Wait... detention?
But Buttercup had already told some friends she was going to a Drake concert, her teacher she was attending a birthday party, and Bubbles she would be home to help her with her project.
She couldn't go to detention!
"Uh, I might have to uhm... skip it."
"Why?"
"I-I couldn't sleep because..."
"Because?"
Butch was getting suspicious.
"Monster!"
"Monster..."
"Yep! A monster was under my bed last night!"
Butch smacked her on the head, not too hard.
"Dude, I said were stupid... but not that stupid. Go ahead to the Drake concert, the party, AND your house for Bubbles' stupid project."
He-he knew about today's lie?
"And to make you feel better, I'll even come over at 9:00 to battle the monster under your bed."
That night, she went to bed at 8:45 and watched her bedroom window like a hawk. At exactly nine, the glass slid open and Butch crawled in. He had a green blanket.
"For the monsters," he had said.
And they cuddled, that day.
And the next.
And then the next.
Until it became a habit for Buttercup to go to bed at exactly 8:45.
Her sisters knew, they always did, but they didn't mind.
Why? Because Buttercup never lied again. And that was okay.
Besides, random green chocolate containers magically appeared around Blossom, and sugar was a good bribe if anything.
One night, they had migrated to the roof.
"Hey Buttercup? I have a question."
'And be honest,' he would never say, because he, like her sisters, knew when she was lying.
"Do you love me?"
"No, you moron. I sneak you in everyday because I hate your guts."
Yup, he knew when she was lying.
So, I just felt like writing something really cute. And this was cute. And really OOC. But really cute and for some reason I can really picture the greenies like this.
Can't you?
