~Eleanor's (Ellie) POV~

"Okay, tell me about your childhood?" Ashton asked, as he glanced over at me. Piercing Hazel eyes meeting mine. The question seemed easy. Anyone could have come right out about it. No. Not me.

Most young girls childhoods were filled with dolls, ponies and princess, I couldn't afford that luxury. I would say I never had a childhood. Well, a proper one. I had lost my brother and was left with a abusive father and a mother that walked out on us years ago. Between the years I learned to except that I would never be like the other kids. I don't think I ever would even if my experience was different. I would have been a strange child anyways. Though ashton wasn't all normal.

He's was extremely open and trusting. Something that was new to me. He probably grew up in a little blue house with two sisters and a little dog. The perfect family, but he still wore a... Flower crown. I didn't ask much about it, thinking it was a "style" but he was the only one doing it. He often changed the flowers or colour. It did seem a little strange, his sense for people.

"Eh-hem..." speaking of it, he must have noticed my delay because he spoke up. Raising both eyebrows and shooting me a sceptical look he spoke again,

"What?"

"Nothing." I quickly shot out, I hated to be rude...Well not really but to a boy who was so sweet and my have honestly cared, but I had learned never to get attached. I quickly devised a topic changer as I drew on the layered dust on the shelf top. Slightly tilting my head up to see ashton. His face grew worried, eyes locked on mine. Face frowned, his head tilted like a confused puppy.

"Doesn't seem like nothin' " his voice rang cutting my thoughts with his thick accent; the musk in his voice very vivid. Trying to collect my thoughts I let out a deep sigh replaying Ashton's voice in my head.

"Ashton-"

"Ash." He corrected fixing the formally fitting name, making it sound slack or street. As he spoke his eyes never left mine; locked together.

"Ash," I corrected "It's a difficult story, a story I'm not ready to talk about." I hoped that would end this topic. I was not ready to speak of this to a boy I barely knew. The fact I was even speaking to him shocked me.

"Oh." he spoke, his words muffled almost like it was a burden. The simple 'oh' caused my brain to play out a thousand scenarios. Each more judgemental then the last... My eyes became a cloud a cliff of wonder and sadness, ashton-ash must have caught on "I didn't mean it like that." he said a little worried at his words; fearful that they were judgemental thought they were.

"No, I get it." I lied, trying to cover up my dignity. Leaving a small plastered fake smile hanging off my lips.

"My childhood." he spoke cutting my train of thought and startling me. "When I was just a young boy I lost my mom. She died of cancer when I was 7..." his words sounds broken, a slight pain sounding behind; trailing with sadness. I felt sorry him, I never knew my mother but at least she wasn't taken from me. I guess I did get it.

"I'm so sorry." I stated shifting on the dust ridden shelf, light wisps falling of the edge. The dusty dirty smell flowing around in the air, but I brushed it off.

The worst feeling in the world is having someone you love be taken from you. The fact that you can do nothing about it is the worst. You never forget, it's always there. Causing you some sort pain. It's not like a medicated pain, where it can be treated. It's a shallow void. I know how ashton felt. I had felt it before.

"Umm Ellie?" ashton started as he glanced down towards the floor then back up to me with a puzzled look

"Yeah..?" I asked a little worried at his expression, his eyes grew lighter the sadness leaving as a smile dim smile curved to his lips, glancing down towards the floor he asked

"How are we gonna get down?"

"I do not know." I laughed giving him a shy smile before standing up. I brushed off the dust and scurried down ward toward the ladder motioning for ashton to follow me. As I heard his heavy steps clack on the wood as we made it to the ladder. Quickly scrambling down the ladder, my hands brushing with more dust as I waited for ashton to follow me, with a sharp laugh we both climbed down the ladder in a bundle of laughter.

Quickly ashton bolted by the door quickly flipping the open sigh around to closed.

The store became empty. As we both grabbed our things and headed for the door,

"Hey? Ash?"

"Yeah?" he spoke back pushing his bag up his shoulder nesting it nicely before fixing the ring of flowers on his head and giving me one last smile,

"I enjoyed today, I was actually, happy."
