"Kyra," I said, my voice flat.

"Is that any way to say hello to your mother?"

I slowly took in her black outfit. The 3 of them all wore the same tactical gear. Black vest with black long sleeves, pants, and helmet. Kyra had white bands on her arm. The guys each had a big rifle, with a scope and laser attached, trained on me.

"I think this is the first time I've ever seen you in something other than heels."

"I don't think you're in a position to be snarky." She demanded.

"Where are they?" I thought.

"Agent Kyra. We've caught two creatures at the perimeter." A voice crackled over the radio.

'Get out of there!' Diana's voice thundered through my head.

I turned back to my homework.

"What do you want Kyra?" I asked skimming over a page about infectious diseases.

My back started itching.

"I know what you are. I know how much like your father you are. Now, I wouldn't do anything stupid or you and Nanook are going to be put down." Kyra snarled her eyes narrowing to slits.

'Zeva.' I reached out.

'Where's Brent and Diana?' She demanded.

'Althea, find the pack. Get Zeva safe. They need their Beta.' Mia ordered.

'Yes, Alpha.' She said closing the link.

"Kyra, I am your daughter-"

"You. Are. Not. Mine." She bit out.

'Give me control.' Mia ordered.

I relaxed into my chair.

"Nanook, Go!" Maia ordered.

He snarled and leaped at the trio. My wings ripped through as they fired. My senses heightened and I could focus on the darts as they soared towards me. Maia swung my wings forward. The darts lodged harmlessly in my thick flight feathers. She turned and took a step back. Another dart whizzed in front of me and lodged in the wall behind me. She popped our wings open and ejected the darts out. Nanook had knocked one of the rifles down and stood over it menacingly. Maia curved my wings in front of me.

"You know what we are, but you couldn't fathom the degree of strength we have."

Kyra drew a pistol.

"Give me my daughter back." She snarled.

"She was never yours. She was always her father's daughter." Maia growled back.

Kyra roared and aimed towards us. Her hand trembled.

"You need us." Maia said.

Her eyes narrowed. A ball of brown and gray fur barreled through our glass door.

'Zeva!' I thought.

"Althea!" Zeva exclaimed.

She snarled at Kyra.

'I never liked this Bitch.' Zeva growled.

Maia stood tall.

"We have the shot." A small voice crackled through an earpiece.

"Take it."

"I can take you either way." Kyra sneered.

Before she could squeeze the trigger, another dart whizzed through the hole in the glass. It lodged itself in Zeva's back thigh. She yelped in pain before she collapsed down. Maia slowly shifted back.
