As he finished reading the letter, he placed it back to the envelope. He then lay back on his bed and started thinking about the writer. his thoughts were interrupted by his friend who was sharing the same room with him in the hostel.
"I hope Nafisa didn't forget to greet me" Asked aminu
" Haba! How could she? You're even the first person she mentioned in the letter," replied sagir
"Then aw is she?
"She's Hale and hearty"
That's great," said aminu
Sagir and aminu were childhood friends.they attended the same primary and now are in the same secondary school. They had been in the same class since their junior secondary school class and now they were both in their final year. Their relationship was so cordial that some people took them to be blood brothers. both of them are brilliant and therefore competed in the class. and so if sagir beat aminu this term, the following term it would be aminu's turn to lead. Sagir is gentle and reserved, while aminu is liberal and outspoken. yet they often disagree but such disagreement were not pronounced. Infact, their relationship was more than that of ordinary friends. The intimacy extended to their parents who had now become family friends.
Meanwhile, sagir's relationship with Nafisa strated about two years back. The two met at inter-state debate finale held in Abuja. it was battle between niger and kaduna states. Sagir was the chief speaker of their school, Federal government college,Minna, representing niger state, while nafisa on her part was the third speaker of government girl's secondary school kaduna, representing kaduna state.
At the end of the debate, niger state was declared the winner with two points margin. The two teams performed creditably well,so well that even the opponent school could have won. Perhaps, luck was on the side of Niger state team, but even putting even luck aside, one team had to be declared winner.the audience welcomed the results with jubilation.
