Two Months Later
Scarlett
It’s been a few months since I met Vivian and her family. We have grown closer these past few months. I still cannot believe she agreed to give me a chance to prove I can change. During the day everyone trains, or we move on to another spot to camp.  At night Viv and I walk away from camp to get to know each other better. It’s nice to just relax and talk to someone for once instead of solely trying to figure out our next move.

Since our Superiors put Vivian on the most wanted list, with a decent award for her capture, everyone has been very vigilant when it comes to being noticed by outsiders. I’ll never forget the look on her face when she found out, she was devastated. I mean I would be too considering that no one, we'll except the guy I killed, died that night. She’s getting blamed for a crime that didn’t even happen. This whole thing is very frustrating for her and her family.

"Scarlett," Mike says, bringing me out of my thoughts. "Yeah?" I ask. "I was scoping out the area, and I discovered one of the facilities that are used to hold people with the killer chemical." "Interesting. Do you have something in mind?" "Yes, actually, I was thinking we could infiltrate the facility and maybe recruit a few people to help us."

"Good idea, " I say in praise, "we should come up with a plan tho. Tonight Vivian and I will stake out the place, while you protect Lily and Sandra." Mike gave me a confused look which made me sigh out of annoyance. "Their mom's name is Sandra." “Right anyways good idea.” He says while laughing nervously. I just roll my eyes at him before leaving to go train.

Nighttime finally settles in signaling that it is time to meet up with Vivian. Except for this time, we aren’t going for a nice stroll. “Hey, Scar.” She greets. It’s cute that she recently started calling me by my nickname. I smile at her before speaking. “Hey, Viv. Listen I know we usually hang out and talk, but Mike discovered a facility nearby that we need to stake out. You okay with that?" "Yeah, as long as you don't hurt anyone." "I'll do my best not to," I say with sincerity.

We walk in the direction Mike said the facility is at talking only the first half so we don't draw attention to ourselves. After walking about a mile or so we see the building and duck down in some nearby bushes to avoid being seen. We observe the guards' movements and locate potential entry points. Only whispering to discuss what we thought the best way to get in is and if it is or not. This is all we talk about until around an hour in Vivian asks something unexpected.

“Scarlett?” She asks shyly. “Yeah?” “Do you think I’ll ever… you know… kill someone?” Why did I never see this question coming? Of course, she would ask this question. I let out a sigh and turned toward her making eye contact. “I do not know the answer to that, but I know you would not kill unless you had a good reason.” She pulls her legs up towards her chest and hugs them tight. “I don’t want to kill at all tho.” She starts weeping softly at this. I move beside her and wrap my arms around her in an attempt to comfort her.

“I know you don't want to, and I hope you don't have to but sometimes things happen. Sometimes when they happen we have to do things we hate.” I pet her while whispering sweet nothings to her. She grabs on to me sobbing at this point. Knowing someone might hear I pick her up bridal style and start the walk back to camp.

I carry Vivian halfway to camp before she calms down enough to walk on her own. We then walk the rest of the way in a somber but comfortable silence; however, I know it won't last long considering we share a tent. We reach camp with enough time to get a decent amount of sleep. I let Mike know we made it back to camp before following Vivian into the tent.

I walk in to see Viv in her sleeping bag facing away from where I sleep. I let out a sigh before getting in my sleeping bag hoping to get some sleep. As soon as I'm about to fall asleep I hear movement coming from the other side of the tent. I lay there waiting to see what will happen when I feel Vivian climb in the sleeping bag with me. I wrap my arms around her and smile to myself as I drift off to sleep.
