Sabrina hasn't called me. At all.

My best friend. I guess it's ex-best friend now.

I didn't know why she would ignore me. I tried calling her, she didn't answer. I tried on multiple occasions, no answer or response.

I don't know what I did but I checked her Instagram. She was with Sandra. The one person who hated me with everything they had.

Sabrina was always there when Sandra would do something. Now she's a part of her group.

I ignore the thought and get out of bed. It's Saturday and that means I can't wallow in self pity all day.

As I walk down the stairs, I think of my birth parents.

Bad idea.

Now I am going to wallow in self pity all day.

Fortunately, mom was gone and that meant I could do whatever the hell I wanted.

I trudged into the kitchen and grabbed the carton of ice cream. I swiftly walked back to my room and dumped the carton and spoon on my bed.

I got the fluffiest blanket I owned and wrapped it around myself, leaning against the headboard of my bed. Putting the carton of ice cream in my lap, I turned the TV on, setting it to Big Mouth.

When I reached the middle of season 1, the doorbell rung.

I groaned and trudged downstairs, opening the door with a scowl. It was... John?

"Uh... what are you doing here...?" I was caught off-guard from the sudden appearance; the surprise took place in a stutter.

"Can I... talk to you?" John mumbled, I nodded and opened the door wider, letting him in.

I take him to my room and motion him to sit on the bed, which he does. I take the chair next to the bed and look at him.

He sat with his hands in his lap, messing with his fingers and looking down.

"What's up?"

"I... I like this girl and I wanted to ask you if you can give me tips to asking her out?"

I definitely expected something negative, but this is way better.

"Sure! Did you have anything in mind?" I ask, almost bouncing in my seat. I was really excited to help him.

I'm surprised he even trusted me with this, I guess he didn't want to ask his mom and I knew his brothers would have been no help.

"I kinda wanted to ask her to Homecoming," John explained, "I'm not too sure though."

"Well... I'd probably appreciate you buying me a teddy bear, flowers, and show up at my doorstep to ask me. I don't really like big things, so I think she would like it if you do that too."

He nodded, "yeah... she is amazing. She's really an introvert and doesn't talk much, but she's incredibly beautiful and has an amazing personality."

I smile softly, "you really like her, huh?"

John grins brightly and nods at me.

"You better tell me what she says, John. Or else I'll pummel you." I said seriously, he looks at me and his grin doesn't falter.

"How could I not? You're the one who helped me."

...

It was Monday once more and the weekend was over, which is depressing.

But, I know that I get to find out what mystery girl said! I am incredibly excited and I keep bouncing, I was pretty antsy to find out.

I see John talking with James and I race over, "John! Tell me right now!"

Said twin smiles and nods. I immediately squeal and jump onto him, wrapping my arms around his neck.

"I'm so happy for you!" I shout happily as John wraps his arms around my waist.

He chuckles and spins as my feet couldn't reach the ground with how I was hugging him, I laugh as he does the action and give him one last squeeze. I then let go and John gently sets me on my feet.

"Thanks, Isla! You helped me a lot."

"Anytime!" I chirp and wave at him and James as I walk to go meet Wren and Jay.

...

The day passes quickly and before I know it I'm at home. I sigh tiredly and collapse exaggeratively onto the couch.

I suddenly rise quickly as an idea pops into my head and I call John.

"I need a favor." I speak into the phone once he answers.

"What can I do?"

...

We arrive at the pound and I jump energetically into the building with John behind me laughing.

I immediately ask the person who comes up to me if there is any dogs that are fine with cats.

The worker takes me to a few cages in the back of the dog section and points to the ones who can live with cats.

I thank her and clap my hands, grinning widely at John who just shakes his head.

I spot a black Irish Wolfhound with a white belly. I ask the lady if I could see the dog and she tells me her name is Moona.

As soon as Moona is out of her kennel she walks leisurely towards me and licks my face when I crouch down.

"I want her."

...

John helps me bring everything inside and even helps with building Moona's kennel outside.

Moona immediately warms up to my cat, Jet. He's an orange and white Norwegian Forest cat.

I bounce on my toes, smiling.

John walks up to me and thank him again, I definitely owed him. Even though I may have helped get the girl, he helped get a dog and build the kennel... and carry most of the heavy stuff...

I walk outside to John's car with him.

"Thanks again, John. Call me if you ever need a favor!" I grin brightly at him and he nods.

"Will do, Isla. You can call me too, ok?"

I smile and wave at him as he drives away, once he's pretty far distance wise, I walk back inside.

Moona and Jet are in Moona's inside bed. I walk over and pet the two of them.

I go back upstairs and change clothes, collapsing onto the fluffy mattress. I soon drift off with the thought of why hanging with John felt so familiar.

...
