"Sounds good. You should try a bit harder, though." He'd put a finger to his chin as his eyes stared out of the window above my bed. The comment made my nose scrunch up as I considered all the will-power I'd put into living through a few hours without revealing the fact my head wished it could combust at every fourth sentence Levi spoke, and then I realised this ass of an original in front of me required for my efforts to double (or worse - triple) themselves.

"No offence, but you're not here to make commentary. I'm seriously counting on you right now." I could feel my temples pulsate and I wondered how long I would have to deal with this. I was a college student - a freshman at that, and I had a part-time job as a barista and a waitress. Things were hard enough when I had an invisible little guy in my head and now I had to tolerate the real deal in the space outside of it? Alongside a bunch of random-timed flashbacks followed by a terrible migraine? Didn't sound ideal to me.

"I know, I know. Hold up, I have to think about it." He sat on the bed and the smallest sighs of relief tore themselves from my lungs when the mattress didn't move a single millimeter. The only optimistic side I could think of was that the chances of Levi showing up at my workplace were literally nonexistent. Same went for my lectures. But then a little thought started bugging me.

And what happens if we start dating? What happens if I manage to "seduce" him? Correct - I would have to spend more time with him, which would literally endanger the number of non-stressed braincells I had. But that was exactly what I had to do in order to stop this whole 'let's die from overdose caused by painkillers' ordeal.

"They're going to come back soon." There was urgency in my voice as I glanced at the door. This was the first time I was all alone in our room at the hotel so ghost Levi decided to take advantage of it and visit me for a quick interrogation that hadn't gone as predicted. To distract both myself and him from the fact I had something similar to a date with Levi last night I'd given him a task of my own since I knew nothing of my surroundings here and I'd figured since he'd been around for more than a millennia he knew a bit better.

"Maybe if I had a map..." There was a hum at the back of his throat as his hues bore into mine. Somehow, I felt if it had been Levi and not ghost Levi I would've experienced a flashback in that exact moment. "I don't remember the vicinity as well as I did before, we'll have to walk around and find it." The raven concluded somberly as my ears perked up at the sound coming from the hallway outside the door behind my back. My eyes widened at the footsteps and I cut in with a quick: "Too late" before he poofed, having heard them himself.

Less than a second after that the door to the room opened. I expected Levi, who'd gone downstairs without saying anything, so I mustered the best 'I wasn't doing anything suspicious' smile I had in store and turned to face him.

"Hi!" In my personal opinion I sounded a lot like your normal squeaky toy moms buy for their kid's dog to demolish, but in reality I was probably exaggerating.

"Hey, (Y/N)." Instead of Levi, it turned out to be the other rightful inhabitant of this room - Eren. Despite the fact me and Eren had grown an itsy bitsy apart since the beginning of this vacation, he was still a more preferable and welcome company than Levi, who made me tense all over and overthink every word I said at least ten times.

"Eren. I thought you were with Sasha and Reiner." The tension in my shoulders visibly dispersed when they sagged in relief, only to come back in doubled intensity once I acknowledged the look on my friend's face as the most serious expression he'd ever worn.

"Well, I'm not. (Y/N), we have to talk." Eren said darkly, but I could see a bunch of worry bleed through the supposedly firm look in his teal eyes. Looking at him, I knew this was the part where I either avoided all and any risks regarding my task by cutting ties with him so he wouldn't find out about me being a connectioner or I put his loyalty as a friend to a test by telling him everything and checking if my trust would be returned.
