chapter 14

Tony's POV

Waking up with a few sores here and there is a norm for me but the dad scare is a whole new level of scared for me. I've tried talking Nicole out of it but she won't bulge mostly because of the risk involved since she's far gone. A knock on the door interrupts my thought.

Yeah,?  I ask but no response rather the door opens.

Hey,  you OK?  Nicole asks as soon as she steps into the room.

Yeah, what do you want?  I respond Flatly

You sure?  You look a bit off, she continues

Nicole, just..... I start exasperated

Fine, don't tell me. She adds, cutting me off

From the information that just got to me, mark has some men on us and the mafia/drug lords (whatever they call themselves these days) have a new team setup on us too.

Is Mark in on this with them? I ask

Yes, but at the same time he wants to take them out. They have a lot of gold and cash which he intends to make away with.

Where is Mark now?

Italy. He has a meeting with the lead family this night. The Delenas

We need to be in this meeting. Get Rico on the phone. We need to bug their conversation. I respond standing from the bed to face Nicole.

Already did that. Just thought you should know coz we may have to move earlier than planned. Nicole responds closing the gap between us.

Look, I know the baby news is a huge bomb on you but you have nothing to worry about coz I'm giving it up once it's out. She says in a low tone

What? Nicole we need to talk about this

There's  nothing to talk about. We're both incapable of being parents. I mean, that should be illegal she says with a mocking laugh

Nicole, look. I know you're scared about this as much as I am. So let's stop putting up a front  here.  The smile quickly drains from her face.

I'm not even sure what I'm saying right now, i say running a hand through my hair nervously. But I think we should give it a shot.

You must be joking right?

I'm serious, I respond

It's not safe Tony.

Nicole once this whole thing with Mark and Co blows over,I'm starting over and you should too. At least start thinking about it now.

I step closer to her closing the space between us to hold her arms.

Everything will be OK. We'll figure it out OK? I say searching her eyes but without warning she crashes her lips against mine. I pull back instantly.

Nicole what the hell?

Uhm,  sorry.  It's just,  I've kinda missed you and.....

I cut her off with my lips against hers. I have missed her too. I've always loved Nicole but she is complicated. Her feelings don't run deep. She's just bad news but in the midst of the chaos, I seem to be unable to stop caring about her.

It took her a second to catch up and she deepens the kiss. Her lips are thin and hard and her kiss is always fierce. As we both start running out of breath she pushes me to the wall and starts taking off my shirt and just then reality hit me. Patricia was around and Nicole can't be trusted.

Wait,  I manage to say which made her pause.

Are you sure this baby is mine?  I know this would hurt her feelings if truly I'm the father but I can't help it.  Nicole is capable of anything.

Why would you even ask me that she responds a little hurt,  as expected.

Nicole I can't pretend you're a piece of cake just coz you're pregnant. You're a handful and you know it.

This isn't the reason I came after you, so believe whatever you want

Nicole I'm sorry but its just... I... Uhm

After all we've been through, you think I'd lie about this,  she fires back pointing to her stomach. Nicole's phone vibrates on the bed making both of us look that way but she rushes to get it, almost as if she had something to hide.
I wouldn't be surprised if she was hiding something, the real shocker is me deliberately walking into her trap.

To my surprise she cuts the call and returns to me with an attempt to ressume  the kiss but I'm a little suspicious right now  so I hesitate a little but damn I've missed her.  I carry her up and immediately she wraps her legs around me while we kiss  but as we were about to get deeper the door swings open and it's Patricia.

She looks like she had seen a ghost. As I put Nicole down she runs out the door without saying a word. pat wait,  I called running after her. Soon enough I meet up with her and run around to face her. Pat wait, let's just talk about what you just saw and...

Unbelievable,  she says with disgust. You told me you ended things with her long ago and next you tell me she's pregnant and now you're about to make another baby yet again, she barks throwing her hands in the air in defeat.

I know it looks all bad but believe me this is the first time it's happened since she got here.  Things got a little emotional when we were talking about the baby that's all.

She huffs in disbelief,  you know what?  I don't even know why it matters. I can't wait to get out of here and out of your life for good. She storms off and this time I don't follow her because I know she's right. The earlier we figure things out and get out of this mess the better for everyone. I don't even know what I was thinking, hoping we could possibly have happily ever after?

When I get back to the room,  Nicole was still there but on a call. She ends the call immediately she noticed my presence.

I hope that didn't cause much of a mess for you?  She asks sarcastically.

I think you should think about what we discussed earlier. I say as I wear my shirt and grab my jacket.

There's nothing to think about, after this we give it a try then.  We're better off together anyway.

Nicole you can't agree to this just because of Pat.  If you're not going to do this right just tell me now and we can forget about it and go with your initial plan. We're not getting any younger and this could be our only chance.

She stands up from the bed and walks to my front,standing just an inch away. I'll think about it,  she responds and walks away.
