"There's no pot of gold in the rainbows we chase, but we hold on, hold on," Hannah sings softly, laying on her bed in the dark of her room. Her teddy bear is secure in her arms; the only toy she wants to keep whole instead of destroying.

Grandpa gave her that bear, but daddy let her keep because she said mommy gave it to her. See, now that she thinks about it, Grandpa makes her lie a lot.

He's not mean to her though, so she doesn't mind it too much.

"I guess time's waistin', tik-tokin', lip lockin," she starts again, switching to the rap of the song, liking it better than singing.

"Hannie?" a deep voice whispers in the corner of her room, she looks over and smiles. He's not out yet.

"Grandpa?" Hannah calls out. "It's okay, I'm alone. You can come out."

A sigh of relief sounds through the room and he finally steps out of the shadows, still cautious of every little sound.

"Hi, Hannie." he greets quietly, eyes watery; nothing to be worried about, he's just very old and his eyes are always like that. And they're bloody too! It's creepy!

"Hi, Grandpa!" she giggles in response, smiling wider when he scowls and grumbles at the name.

"Brat. I am not that old. And I am not your Grandpa," he scolds, expression holding no signs of seriousness and he sits himself down on the edge of her bed.

"But you could be,"

"Aish," he frets, pinching her cheeks to add some color to her face. It is also a form of retaliation since Hannah hates being pinched and hates her face being touched. "How was your day, Hannie? No one was mean to you right?"

"No, Grandpa," she shakes her head. "But I did meet new friends today! Well, one friend. I am meeting another new friend soon."

Grandpa's eyebrows sink down in cofusion, the wrinkles on his forehead deepening, his beard moving as he frowns. "A new friend?"

"Yeah, his name is Yoongi, and Joonie said he's just like me," she chirps.

"Joonie?"

Hannah scoffs at him and throws her head back dramatically. Because she can. "My new friend who will meet me with my new friend." she states with a matter-of-fact headshake.

Grandpa still doesn't understand but for the sake of his nerves nods as if he does, letting out a faint oh. "So," he starts a new topic. "Anything new with Subject A and B?"

"You mean Jinnie and daddy?" Hannah asks, getting a nod in return. "Nothing really new. I hear Jinnie yelling a lot late at night. I think him and daddy are fighting," she whispers. "I always hear him screaming daddy's name."

Grandpa is slow to understand but he gets it and chokes on a cough, flushing all the way to his ears. "Yeah, uh, they- must be fighting,"

"Oh!" Hannah gasps and Grandpa flinches with her. "One more thing happened! With Joonie, my new friend, we did a lot of talking and I gave him a stuffie, and we drew you, and-"

"Wait, what?!" The man nearly shouts, eyes widening to a comical size and it makes Hannah giggle because he kind of looks like Van, her other plush toy. His hair also reminds her of Van.

"What's wrong, Grandpa?" she scoots back a little bit, backing up against the headboard of her bed. Okay. Grandpa hasn't been this scary before, something isn't right.
