That Monday, I got a ticket to the Sing Off and sat down in the front. The minute the guys sat down in our box, I could see the guys searching the crowd for me. They spotted me and waved.
I sat patiently through the show until; finally, the guys took the stage.
“Next up is CraZ LuV, singing a song by their member Scott called Crazy Thing Called Love” Nick Lachey announced.
I was shocked to hear that Scott had written a song. The guys started the song with the chorus going like this
This crazy thing called love
It’s a disaster yet still a miracle
A happily ever after
Just waiting on you to realize
Our crazy thing called love
They sang their hearts out and made me proud. Thankfully, they skidded by with being the last group called safe before the bottom 2. After their performance, Scott came up to me.
“Oh my gosh!! Ya’ll did amazing! I knew you would!!” I said.
He smiled. “Yeah thanks. I'm just glad you’re gonna be up there with us next week.”
Just then, John called Scott over to where they were and Kyle walked up to me.
“Lauren?”
“Yeah?”
“There’s something I need to tell you. But don’t tell Scott I told you.”
“What?”
“Lauren, he wrote the song for you.”
I nearly fell out of my chair. “What?!?! I mean, Scott’s nice and everything but I only think of him as a friend.”
“Okay, but that’s between you and him. I just thought you should know.”
He got up and walked over to the guys. That left me to my notebook.
He likes me? Oh my gosh, this is crazy. You know what? I should’ve known. That’s what he wanted to tell me the first night. <sigh> I'm making a big deal out of nothing. He’ll tell me when he’s good and ready…
I shooed it off. I needed a good night’s sleep, so I went to the hotel and to bed. I needed to be on my “A” game. The competition was getting stiffer and the prize was in sight.
