"I think I'll," Lacie said. Then she collapsed.

"I don't understand." I said. "how can you be her?" I asked. "let's just say... it's not me that's her, it's her that's me."

"I still don't understand."

"I'll explain later. Come on." she said, hauling unconscious Lacie up. She hobbled toward the gate, and I followed wondering what she had meant.

"That voice." I said to myself. "I know it." Suddenly it clicked into place.

"You're the one from my dreams!" I said.

"Yep!" she said.

I realized what I had said.

"Ugh that makes me sound all human-ey" I said.

"I know right?"

"wait you FEEL human?" I asked.

"Well, the truth is I'm also a-"

"There they are!" I turned and saw who had found us. The royal guards. They ran after us and we hobbled away trying not to drop Lacie. Then we hit a dead end.

"That's it," I said. "I give up! We're dead."

I sat against the wall trying not to weep hopelessly.

"Jasper, get ready to fight." Lacie number 2 said.

"Not to be rude, but we're not exactly fighters."

She stopped, thinking for a minute while the guards got closer. Then she ran straight at the leader, stopped and bowed while raising her hands.

"Great." I thought. "She's surrendering." Then, I don't know how, but I knew what she wanted. Like when I read someone's mind, but different. I ran, jumped, and at the peak of my jump pulled my needles out and stabbed straight down directly on her silver bands. Sparks flew. I fell back and I looked up. A giant purple dragon stood in front of me. The guards dropped their weapons and ran. The dragon nodded at me in a way that said "Come on up." I climbed up, pulling Lacie up with me. We soared off into the sky. I sat skimming the hazy soup that was my brain. Then my stomach flipped. Shapeshifting. My brain suddenly felt like ice. There was something going on that she wasn't telling me. Then a bolt of lightning shot straight at us. Lacie, the Dragon and I plummeted down towards a lush green field.

"Great." I thought, "Death by grass."
