Tina and Sybil sat awkwardly in the living space as they tried to wake Kama up. Sybil could feel Tina's reluctance and every so often, she'll open her mouth to say something but then close it after a moment's hesitation. It was more exasperating than infuriating as this has been going on for a few minutes now. Newt was down his case, helping the Zouwu and Jacob left to explore. So, she decided to speak up.
"How are you?"
"Oh... I'm doing well."
Sybil paused before acting as if the question doesn't bother her, "I heard from Newt that you're seeing an Auror. Queenie told him."
"Yeah..."
The tense atmosphere remained and Sybil thought about just giving up and moving out the house to look for Noah. Tina finally looked at her and relaxed with a sigh. She leaned into the couch and fiddled with the book that wad resting on top of the table.
"What happened?" Sybil turned to Tina who was nodding to the case's direction, "You two were doing fine when you left."
"I guess we got too busy. He went back to his manuscript and I had to be a single-parent and an Auror at the same time."
"Oh please. Where's the truth in that?"
Sybil was reluctant but by the piercing gaze Tina was giving her, she was bound to give up eventually, "he has an assistant. They seem close and I got jealous and just dropped it. Then Leta came back and he seemed very affected by it."
"Leta? That's his first love and your uh best friend?" Sybil rose a brow. How would she know? Still, she didn't bother to ask.
"What about you? Noah's been sending messages—"
"It wasn't working out," Tina interrupted and Sybil decided that she'll let Noah handle his own problems.
"For someone so knowledgeable with beasts and their emotions, he does seem illiterate about people," the girls turned to see an empty-handed Jacob.
"How long were you listening in?" Sybil asked in amusement, not really bothered by his intrusion.
"Just enough," he moved closer to the open case, "Hey, Newt, buddy. Sybil's up here and maybe you want to come up and keep her company?"
Tina stood up and Sybil's eyes followed her but she only winked, "I'm going to look for food with Jacob. Don't let her be lonely!"
Just as Sybil was about to voice her displeasure with the two's plan of sorts, they left swiftly. With a grunt, she buried herself deep in the pillows of the couch, eyeing the unconscious Kama who hasn't moved an inch since he collapsed.
"She's responded well to the Dittany. She was born to run, you see. I think she's just lacking in confidence—" Her eyes clashed with Newt's blues and he paused in his ramble. Averting her gaze, she placed her feet back on the floor.
