Her laughter was as precious as a babies. It rang in my ears like Christmas bells. She turned around to me, her smile wide and eyes full of joy.

"You can't run as fast as me, Kat!" I yelled, dodging the trees. I picked up the pace and caught up to her, grabbing her by the hips and twirling her in the air.

Holding her to the sunset made her look like a goddess, like the sunset was her sidekick. Her body was so warm and alive...

I sat up sweating and panting, realizing it was just a dream. Sighing, I tore off my dank shirt and threw it to the side, laying back down. The cool air sent tingles on my chest, causing goose bumps to rise.

Ponyboy lay awake in the bed, looking at me. "Sodapop, we need to talk." His face was serious. He had bags under his eyes.

I turned over to him. "Yeah, sure."

Pony sighed and turned on his back and looked at the ceiling. "For one... You've been mumbling Kat in your sleep for the past hour." He paused and glanced at me, to make sure I was paying attention. "Second... I remember everything."

I sat up, flustered. "What do you mean, everything? Like the rumble?" I was slightly blushing, knowing that I was saying Kat's name in my sleep.

Ponyboy also sat up and looked me in the eyes. "When I was real sick. When you would talk to me about her... I remember it all." He took a deep breath. "I'm sorry, Soda. It was just really bothering me having this all to myself."

I sighed and put my face in my hands. How should I feel? Relieved that someone knows how I feel? Or embarrassed that I was practically in love with someone's girl?

Pony scooted over to me and awkwardly hugged me. "If it means anything, I thought that everything you said was beautiful. The speech at her funeral, what you told me in my sleep. It was all beautiful."

I nodded and rubbed his hair. "Thanks, Pony." I sighed and laid back down. I turned on my side. "You know what I really regret the most? Not telling her how I felt before she..."

Ponyboy laid down with me and nodded. "Soda, tell me more about her. Like, not just her. I know her. I want to know how she was in your eyes. Dallas could never explain it like you can. It seems like you.. bring her back alive or something."

I nodded. "Well.. alright. I guess it all started the first time I saw her.."
