Chapter 4

It was Cody, the guy who offered me a ride like an hour ago. Why did he come here? Nobody came here, at least I thought so.

We stared at each other for a really long time, just to make sure it wasn’t an imagination. I stared right into his deep blue eyes and he stared into mine. I had to admit that he was really cute. I came back into reality and shook my head and pulled myself back.

“W-what are you doing here?” I got up before my heart beats faster. He got up at the same time and I bet we were both thinking about how awkward this was.

“I urm, I come here when I needed time to think.” He said nervously. He was nervous think about me. My heart was racing and my stomach had butterflies each time he talks. Is there something wrong with me or what?

“Me too” I said looking at the grass beneath my feet.  “I’m sorry that I punched you in the eye, I can help you make up a story to tell people so that they won’t think that you got hit by a girl.” I put my angelic face on and smile like a little girl.

“You didn’t hit me that hard.” He denied looking away from my eyes.

“I quote, ‘MY EYE, MY EYE HURTS! YOU PUNCHED ME IN THE EYE!” I mocked using a little girl’s voice. I made him laugh at his own pathetic act but I think I hit him really hard because his eye was turning red and swollen around it. “I think you should get proper medication for your eye, it’s starting to swell.” I touched his eye gently making him moan

“Do not speak of this again!” He warned as I helped him to walk to his car. I giggled softly of the thought of telling everyone I hit Cody in the eye.

I held his hand as he leaded me the way to his car and when we were finally there. I swung open the car door and pushed him inside and closed the door for him as I sigh in relief. ‘Why couldn’t he open the door and got in himself? He is such a drama queen.’

I got into the car and sat on the driver’s seat while Cody was whining in pain while touching his swollen eye. ‘Idiot’

I started the engine and prepared to drive but he grabbed my hand before I could drive of to where ever.

“Where are we going?” He asked in misery. He remove his hand from mine slow. He removed his hand from mine slowly and my stomach twisted.

“To my home, I have to help you with your eye, it looks pretty bad.” I insisted. I heard him mumble something but turned my attention to the road and drove away.

The ride home was quiet and he was probably whining inside his head about how suffering it was to survive the searing in his eye. I chuckled as I thought about that.

I parked his car on my driveway and as soon as I got down, I helped Cody to get out, since he was too stubborn to look with his other eye. I grabbed his arm and pulled him to the door and when we went in, he looked around my house. He must be saying that this house was small because compared to his; it was like a giant and a human standing side by side. ‘Jerk’

My little sister, Jasmine, came down in her pink princess outfit and saw me holding onto Cody’s arm and she smiled evilly, and that’s when I knew she was going to do something to embarrass me.

“Mom, Kate’s got a boyfriend!” Jasmine screamed trying to get mom to come here.

“Shut up Jasmine.” I whined as I saw mom coming. “He’s just a…schoolmate.” I looked at Cody and he frowned because I didn’t say ‘friend’.

“Then, why are you holding his arm?” she said raising an eyebrow and I quickly removed my hand from his arm and played with my hands. Cody stared at me with the ‘Don’t let go’ look.

“Oh my, what happened to your eye?” Mom asked Cody in such a shock and I put my ‘I didn’t do anything’ look.
