Chapter 2
School was over and I met up with Abby and my other friend, Eliza. Eliza was the kind of girl who doesn’t care what people thought of her as a person and that what I envied about her. She was tough, beautiful and incredibly smart. However, she can sometimes hurt people’s feelings without knowing. Abby is the perky, obnoxious, girly and cute one. She loves shopping and drags me to one of her Saturday shopping spree and not to mention, she can talk forever.
“Hey Kate” Eliza greeted while leaning on her blue vintage car which I wanted so badly.
“So where do you guys want to go? It’s Friday so…” Eliza stated.
“Oh, I KNOW!!!! LET’S GO SHOPPING!” Abby suggested with enthusiasm while jumping up and down with her hands in the air like a child getting new toys.
“Not gonna happen!” Eliza said with a perky voice with a fake smile.
I giggled at Eliza’s impersonation of Abby but Abby didn’t find it funny.
“You guys are so mean!” Abby cried with her hands crossed.
“I was just teasing.” Eliza said making Abby laugh a little.
“Guys, it’s Friday, let’s go have fun.” I said happily to stop them from getting into an argument.
Suddenly, a red sports stopped in front of three of us. The driver looked familiar although he had shades on but then it hit me, it was the guy who pushed me in the hallway. Um… I think his name was Cody.
“Hey Katelyn” Cody called while he opened the passenger seat door for me. “Need a ride?”
Abby and Eliza dropped their mouth and looked at me like I was an alien or something, probably because he was told to be the most popular guy in school but he wasn’t snobby, at least I think so. The way I see it, he was a rich guy living the life of a celebrity.
“Are y-you talking to me?” I asked nervously and screamed at myself inside my head ‘Don’t act like an idiot!’
“No, I was talking to your friend.” He said sarcastically which kind of hurt.
“I have other plans, sorry about that.” I said turning the offer down. His smile faded and Abby gave me a nudge on the elbow. “Maybe next time”
‘Idiot’
“What about next Saturday?” He said as his face lit up.
I thought about for a while. He is gorgeous but will he eventually break my heart, I mean I heard what the girls said about popular guys and what they do to girls. Maybe it could be a friendly date, but who the hell would have a ‘friendly’ unless they have social problems. Ever since he left, I hadn’t gone to a date once, why didn’t I? Well, I guess I had no idea.
“My friends and I are going out on Saturday like we usually do.” I lied.
Abby and Eliza looked at me with the ‘Why did you say no to him’ look.
“I guess I’ll see you around.” He said coldly looking away.
He drove away within seconds and I felt the guilty eating my stomach. I shouldn’t have said that. Maybe I was still not ready to go on a date, I don’t know, I’d rather not think about it.
I felt a pain in my arm which woke me up from my daydream.
“Ouch, why’d you do that?” I cried while touching my sore arm.
“You should’ve said yes to him! And I didn’t hit you that hard.” She teased as she folded her arms.
“You used full strength and you call that ‘not strong’” I said angrily.
“Kate, why the hell didn’t you tell him yes?” Abby asked with a normal tone voice which still seems perky.
“I don’t know, date fright?” I joked with an angelic face.
“Really? Is it because of Jakey?” Eliza teased with pouty lips.
