I had finally found a quiet spot to settle down for the night on the roof of an apartment building.
Luckily, I had taken one of the more luxurious Jets that had a couch and cloaking technology that proved to be handy.
I lay on the couch, tossing and turning for a couple of hours now but still, unable to fall asleep. The words of the Ancient One stuck in my head.
What did she mean my life was in danger?
I shook the thought from my head, turning onto my side. I felt fine, she must've just been a little paranoid.
I brush it off, tucking myself comfortably into the couch.
Soon, sleep had me, but not for long. My eyes shot open and I'm wide awake, once again. This time, by a noise from outside the jet.
I'm now on full alert as reached for my gun, making sure it was loaded before I approached the ramp.
My gut was screaming for me to turn around, and so, I do.
Cocking my gun, I spin around and aimed it at the figure standing behind me.
My eyes widened as they landed on the intruder's face and I find myself letting my gun fall to my side.
"How did you get in here?" I questioned.
Clint simply shrugs as he stood before me, leaning against the couch with his hands crossed over his chest.
"It's not that hard, really." He says with a shrug.
I tossed my gun onto the table beside me. Tired of fighting the people I love, I stick my hands out in front of me.
"Well?" I raised my brows at him in question, "What are you waiting for? Cuff me already. Aren't you here to take me back to S.H.I.E.L.D?"
Clint sighs, "No. I'm here as your friend, Camille."
The first thing that comes to my mind was that this was some kind of trap, but I quickly shake the thought from my head. Clint would never do that to me.
"Laura misses you." He says, taking a seat on the couch.
"I miss her too." I reply with a sigh, leaning against the table, "How are the kids?"
Clint's eyes shoot up to meet mine, wide with surprise.
"You know my kids?" He asks, failing to hide the shock in his voice.
"Of course, I do." I said, "I watched them grow up."
"Camille, you left before my oldest was even born." He states, "You've never met my kids."
It takes a while for me to process what Clint has just said.
My heart aches when I finally realise what this means, that Cooper, Lila and Nathaniel would not recognise me if I ever get the chance to see them again.
