C A M I L L EThe pain of my healing wound has been much more bearable than before after having been administered some painkillers.
I play with the little bump that I could feel under the skin in the area right above my wrist I wait in Fury's office. It was obvious what it was and it must've been injected into me when I was unconscious.
Clint had mentioned something about him wanting to talk to me as soon as I was awake. That definitely couldn't be anything good.
Clint, Nat and Steve were in the room with me and I sat in the corner, watching as my fiancé stares down at the picture of the woman he was crazy in love with, and sadly, that wasn't me.
In the other end of the room, was my sister, who refuses to even look at me and was willing to speak to anyone else but me.
I sigh, leaning back into my seat and propping my legs up on Fury's desk when I spot something moving under my chair.
I peer down to see an orange cat rubbing up against the leg of my chair, purring.
"Hey, buddy." I greet.
I groan, ignoring the pain in my abdomen as I reached down to pat it, "You're really cute, aren't you?"
I notice the tag hanging around its neck, "Goose." I read.
The name rings a bell, reminding me of a conversation I had with Carol awhile back where she had mentioned something about a pet cat named Goose.
"Whose Cat is this?" I asked to no one in particular.
As expected, it was Clint who replies, "Fury's. Why?"
Right as I was about to answer, the door flies open and Fury enters the room.
"I see you've met Goose." He says, as stoic as ever, "I think it's time we continued where we left off in our previous conversation, Camille."
"Is Carol here?" I blurt.
Silence fills the room as Fury pauses, staring at me with wide eyes.
"How do you know about her?" Fury questions.
"Who's Carol?" Nat interjects, looking just as confused as the rest of them.
"A friend." Fury simply states before turning to me, "That you should not know about."
He leans forward, staring me right in the eyes, "How did you find out about her?"
"Would you believe me if I told you?" I questioned in return.
Fury sighs, plopping down into his chair on the other side of the desk.
"How do you expect us to believe these stories that you're telling, Camille?" He asks, pinching the bridge of his nose, "What you're telling us not possible."
"I didn't think it was either until it happened to me." I shrug, "There's more to this world than we're capable of understanding, Fury. You should know, you've seen it."
"I don't have time for this, Camile." Fury says, clearly growing more agitated, "I want answers."
"And I've already given them to you!" The pain is back again as soon as I raise my voice, making me wince.
