Oh my gosh it had been a terrible amount of time since I last updated this. I'm so so sorry guys, I've just been super busy with school and I've not really had time to write. But I've had time to plan where this story's going and that the next chapter may or may not be the last one. Dis chapter is a little short for the time it took to write it but I've almost written the whole of chapter 25, so it will be published soon! I really hope you enjoy this chapter!
There were some moments in Michael's life that he couldn't describe. He couldn't describe the happiness he felt when his parents got married. He couldn't describe the joy of meeting Rich and becoming his best friend. And he couldn't describe the love he felt when he met Jeremy. But he also couldn't describe right now. He couldn't even say what he felt right now.
Jeremy lay in the bed beside him. Still. Unmoving. At peace. Michael wished he could lie there with Jeremy forever. Just lie with him and never worry about anything ever again. But the worries that swirled in his mind wouldn't go away. And he knew they wouldn't go away anytime soon.
"Paralysed." Michael whispered under his breath. "Unable to walk. Unable to speak. Because of me." Michael's whole body was shaking as he whispered in Jeremy's ear. Jeremy didn't react. But Michael felt as if he was long dead to Jeremy. "Hello Michael." A sharp voice behind Michael made him turn around. "M-Mr Heere." He said, still shaking. "Did you do this for Jeremy?" Mr here asked him. "I-I didn't mean to do it" he replied. "Did you do it for revenge? To get back at who hurt you?" Mr Heere pressed. "I didn't mean to do it." He said again. "Did you think this was all fun and games? That someone's life could completely change, that they'd hardly live all at ever again at your hands but it would be alright because they made you feel bad?" "I DIDN'T MEAN TO DO IT" Michael yelled. Mr Heere stood in silence at the doorway. Without another word he walked out.
For just a moment, it was quiet. But it wasn't a serene silence. It wasn't peaceful or calm. It was the kind of silence that lingered and loomed over you. The kind that made you think about everything you've done that you've regretted. Micheal sat in the silence. Overthinking and overwhelmed. He squeezed Jeremy's had tight. And for a moment he felt as if Jeremy could squeeze back but...Jeremy still lay there. Still. Unmoving. "I did it for you Jeremy." Michael whispered, a tear running down his cheek. "I did it for you."
Knock knock knock. Michael opened his eyes to the knock of someone at the door. The door of Jeremy's room that was. He had stayed all night, he just needed to stay beside Jeremy. For as long as he could. Michael turned his attention back to the door. "There's someone here to see Jeremy." The nurse called into the room. "Would they prefer it if I left?" Asked Michael. "I think they want to see you too." The nurse replied. As the nurse walked away a small girl with shoulder length dark brown hair walked to the door. Her head was hanging down and she had a large red stitched-up cut down her leg. . She stopped and stood in the doorway. "Michael..." she said quietly. "You have no idea how glad I am to see you" She lifted her head and ran at Michael, tears welling in her eyes. She wrapped her arms around him tightly and smiled. "Christine...I missed you." Michael whispered. He hugged her tighter as he too began to shed just about the millionth tear he'd shed this year. Christine pulled away and smiled at Michael. "I'm so sorry Christine...I'm so sorry for everything." Michael said shaking his head. "Michael...it's not your fault. It was an accident. And no one deserves to live a life like that but...Jake was evil Michael. I don't know what he would've done to me if I had stayed there any longer. I don't know what he could've done to Jeremy." "I know. But I'm sorry for more that that. I'm sorry for not finding you sooner." "But you found me. That's what matters." Christine hugged Michael again. "He can't hurt Jeremy anymore." Christine whispered." "I know." Michael whispered back.
It had been at least a week since the accident. No one had seen Jake since. The sound of the skid of car tyres played on loop in Michael's head. As the car smashed into the wall behind her Christine sat clutching her knees to her chest, her legs dripping with her blood. The police and ambulances arrived as Christine stood next to Michael, she had a shawl around her shoulders yet she still shivered. They were all taken to the hospital, their minds still not believing what they had just seen. Michael And Christine were separated and didn't speak a word after. Not to each other. Not to staff or family. Except for Michael, who could only turn to Rich. He knew deep down it wasn't him who hurt Jeremy and he wanted to find out the truth. After adding everything up it became clear Jake had tried to kill Jeremy. Not Rich. Michael didn't know what to do after he realised the truth. So he simply sat by Jeremy's side.
He was still there now, except Christine and Rich sat with him. Their hands intertwined into one another and everything felt almost peaceful.
