I waited in the car Jeff had given me as he loaded my things into the trunk. It took him no time at all, even though my things were pretty heavy.

Sighing, I rested my chin in my palm and thought. What would it be like, just us living together? No one else. Making our own rules... It'd be like playing house. But this is real life. And it sure as hell won't be all fun and games.

"Everything alright?" He asked as he climbed into the drivers seat, starting the car. I nodded and moved as close to him as possible so I could rest my head on his shoulder. He took one hand off the wheel and rested it on my leg, his long fingers brushing my inner thigh. "You should sleep, Aslin... it's a long drive."

"How long?" I asked with a yawn.

"We'll be there by late tomorrow night."

"But it's only 3pm! And I thought you had portals!" I exclaimed.

"Shh.." he ran his hand up and down my thigh in a soothing motion. "Where we're going can't be reached by portal, which makes my job of protecting you only easier. Now get some rest. I'll wake you up at around dinner time."

I sighed and closed my eyes, trying to block out all of my other thoughts and just focusing on the comforting feeling of Jeff's hand on my thigh. It wasn't long before I was able to give into sleep.

"Aslin.. Wake up time to eat something.."

I groaned and looked at Jeff, who was getting out of the drivers seat. We were parked in the parking lot of an on route. He walked around and opened my door for me. "C'mon."

Sighing, I undid my seatbelt, got out of the car and put my arms up in a long stretch. Jeff watched me for a moment before beginning to walk. I shut the car door and followed him, looking up at the available fast food restaurant sighs. "Mmm KFC..." As I said this, my stomach gave a loud growl. Jeff chuckled.

"Hungry?" He nudged my shoulder.

"Shut up.. it's not like you don't eat too.." I pouted.

"Actually, I rarely do." He laughed. I looked at him and then looked him up and down. How could he have that much muscle mass if he barely eats...? He must be lying.

I scoffed and walked in, going over to the KFC counter, pulling my wallet out of my purse as I ordered. Jeff leaned against the wall, watching me. I guess if I wasn't so used to it it'd be creepy. But it keeps him satisfied so whatever. I payed for my food and walked over to a table, sitting down as Jeff sat across from me and watched me eat.

I began to feel a bit awkward with him sitting there as I tore into my chicken. "Do you want some...?"

He laughed and shook his head. "I'm afraid if I took some, you'd bite off my hand."

I blushed and wiped my mouth with a napkin, pushing the food away. "I'm full anyways.."

His humorous mood disappeared and he came to sit next to me. "I'm sorry... I didn't mean to offend you." His arm snaked around my waist and he pecked my temple. A small smile crept across my face and I moved a bit closer.

"No.. it's ok. I really am full." I stood and wiped my hands with a wet nap and threw my garbage out. Jeff came up beside me and we walked back to the car together. He opened the door for me and shut it once I got in, getting into his side and starting the car, putting his hand on my thigh again.

I looked down at it and smiled. I wonder if maybe he does that for his own comfort than for mine. Maybe it's reassuring. This made me smile wider and I laced my arms around his arm, resting my head on his shoulder and watched as we pulled back onto the highway.
