(I'm no microbiologist in any sense, but I'm taking a microbiology course and I want to have a nerdy af head canon for the game)

Many of the zootonic reseviors near the town are now nonexistent, rats are a major exception

Many zootonic pathogens not of rat origins was most likely contracted by unlucky wasterls

Cholera is a common ailment in the town, more common to select areas closer to the Garden District. This could be handled by the town but this might be a lot to assume considering they can't keep the motline pipelines intact

Some diseases such as tuberculosis and pneumonia are pretty common and isolation measures have been taken whenever there's an outbreak

Wellington Wells does take some diseases more seriously than other. Plague and meningitis ("brain fevers") are two of these examples because of how deadly they can be

It was actually thought at one point that Nick Lightbearer had meningitis after he complained of a horrid headache, fever, and stiff neck (not to mention a bit of a puking episode). Fortunately, when examined, it was just a hangover he was going through. The fever part was most likely the alcohol making him warmer than usual
