this isn't something i should be posting because most people should already know
consciously, everyone knows that if your cover looks good then people will be more interested, and less likely to flip to the next one because you half-assed your cover
nah, i wanted to talk about something going on with a lot semi-known authors around wattpad for fanfics (of all types not just TVD centered) where they create a style of cover and immediately go to make all their other books (usually about 15 more that have about nine chapters or less each) in the exact same style, now i don't know about you it seems like a cheat to me, like opting out of making the rest of your book covers unique or different to the rest.
of course there's a difference in theme and style
for ex, in my Descendants fics I try to do the same black and white theme with the same font where the last word is in blood red, i use the same theme but i dont copy paste the same exact style
another example is the Dragon series from epicvibes once more where she kept the same theme of black and white and titles that start with 'C', or in her CW Flash series where its a red frame (as well as the Constantine book since it's technically a crossover) but she doesn't do the same style for all of her books
a style is okay for a series that continues the first book
but just doing it over and over again because you have no inspiration for another cover is just bleh
and aesthetics only work if your going with something similar to it (that's called a theme) rather than literally doing the same cover (but i wont name names)
an example of a long time running theme is daddygillies where they use famous art works to be the cover for numerous stand-alone TVD short stories. This is a good example, the art works are different on their own and together they form a beautiful aesthetic
so, don't be lazy and copy paste a cover style for all of your books
(if anyone gets like real mad or defensive just remember half of what i say is partly for laughs, so dont take it too harshly but do try and use it)
