Knowing that mother only used a silly excuse to make Emma leave, she nonetheless went to see her father first. "It's you! Listen, there's an interesting article about this successful business heir. He moved here from Great Britain to work in the American headquarter. You should apply for an internship there, I'm sure you'd learn a lot." Emma skimmed the newspaper that was handed to her and saw a picture of a rather friendly looking young man. He didn't look like the typical kind of rich heir, she had to admit. "Ingley Corporations. Hm, I think I have heard of them before somewhere.", she confusedly tried to remember.
In her room, Emma tossed the newspaper on her desk as she collapsed onto her bed. What an exhausting day it has been. A long day enduring lectures that were more or less interesting and then being made fun of in front of her entire grade. If she thought about it now her cheeks still started to show a tinge of pink. She was sure she only closed her eyes for a moment but when Emma opened them again she was met by a curious and bemused face. "Oh Clara, why wouldn't you wake me? What kind of friend are you. Look at me, now I'm a mess!", she puffed while arranging her disheveled hair. Josephine and Clara exchanged a glance and laughed out heartily. As much as they loved their dear Emma, sometimes she was just too adorable. Said girl froze for a second when she finally remembered: "Josie, quick, tell me how did the conversation with mom go?" Seeing Josephine's face slightly falter, it didn't seem to be too satisfying. "Well, she will need some time to adjust to me working, but eventually she'll get used to it. I'm sure...And as long as dad allows it, I still want to go through with it."
"You could always just not tell your mother, you know.", Clara offered in an attempt to offer helpful advice. Josephine thought for a moment then she nodded hear head slowly, exclaiming: "Thank you. I cannot bear to lie to her but with your support I can endure any of mother's strategies to force me to change my mind. "
Soon after, only the two sisters were left and with newly found determination they both slept better than they had in days.
