Chapter 2

After Zonic was released from the infirmary, the higher ups of the No Zone Cooperation have decided to give him a month of break, so he could heal from his shot wound on his head and get back in shape after being knocked out for three days. Of course that wasn't a problem for Zonic since it wasn't a major injury, from what he heard from the doctors, but that did give him the opportunity to recollect his thoughts on what had happened three days ago. As he was resting for the month, he made a habit to go to the same spot in the west hall everyday so he could see the stranger again. Sure he won't stay at that particular spot throughout the day, he will come in and out for different reasons, but that won't stop him from waiting for him.

What happened that day when he was within the stranger's arms really got him puzzled. He may have a head injury at that time, but that didn't mean he didn't experience what has happened. At that moment, when he was in a need of help, he couldn't forget the feelings that took place. As he was lying down, in the arms of the other, with his Emerald eyes meeting pure Ruby eyes, was the first ever time he felt such a sensation coming from his heart. It's every beat, at a pace, that he couldn't control, while he was looking back, with pure confusion and wonder. He didn't even know what to think about the situation, because he knew that despite all the training and knowledge that he has gained over the years of working in the no zone cooperation, nothing can ever compare to that, so while he was on his break for the month, he decided to do as much research as possible about the figure he met.

However, in the middle of his research, he started to think this through as he looked through the social media throughout the galaxy. How can he possible find him if he is literally a one in many billions throughout the galaxy? And how can he know for certain that he does have social media? These questions smacked Zonic's head really hard at that moment, and they made him rub his head from feeling foolish enough to not figure that out first before doing anything, so he dropped the search and decided to just hope that he will return some day. After that day, Zonic made it a habit to go the west side of the zone and watch the sunset as he patiently waited for the stranger's return. Of course  he doesn't know when he will come, but he didn't want to miss the moment of seeing him again.

He didn't understand. He only met this person once and he already misses him so dearly, like he was a friend that he lost so long ago when they have only seen each other for a few minutes, and these sensations every time he sets his mind on him. They keep overwhelming him with so many emotions and desires combined, that he couldn't lock his mind on anyone of them that scourges around his chest area. What is this feeling? Why is he feeling them now and not before? How is he going to calm himself down from them? These questions kept Zonic thinking as he waited by a teleporting station that the zone cops only use for emergencies, he had been waiting for two weeks now and still no sign of the stranger's return.

The stranger did state that he will return soon, and though it is unpredictable when he will return, that did not stop Zonic from going back to that one spot to see at that moment. He didn't want to  miss the moment when he will see the stranger once again. After his month of rest, he continued on with his work, and whenever he doesn't have work, he will go back to the teleporting station, wearing the stranger's jacket, so he could return it to him when he meets him. He continued to do this for the next two years , and throughout this time, his fellow generals and zone cops have been noticing his new behavior as well. They began feeling worried for their leader, wondering what is wrong and why he's been doing this, and one day, Zector and Zespio decided to ask him as once again stood at the teleporting station.

"Zonic? Sir? Is everything alright?" Zespio asked first, once they have found him and stood by his sides. "Yeah, everything is just fine." Zonic replied, but they seemed unconvinced by the tone he used. "Uh, sorry but we're not certain now with that tone, you don't seem very fine to us at the moment, and the others have been seeing how you've been coming here often too. This has been happening ever since you healed from your head injury two years ago. Are you sure you didn't get any side effects from the bullet wound?" Zector asked next, though afraid of the reaction that he might get from his leader since he did sound senseless with that question, and mentally sighed in relief when he heard his leader hum in wonder before replying to his question. "Well, from what the doctor told me, no, I shouldn't be having any other complications than the injury itself, but we also can't be certain about too, since you have been noticing my change in schedule and routine."

Zector and Zespio thought about that for a moment, they still seemed unconvinced about that, because even if their leader was slight delusional, he should have fully healed by now, and not to mention, throughout these two years, he also seemed perfectly fine during his missions as well. Therefore, it can't possibly be about his injury now since it has been so long. "But sir, it has been two years now, so we would like to know the truth." Zespio said truthfully, and Zonic sighed at that. He knew he will have to tell the truth some day, so he gave up in trying to hide what he has been experiencing, and told them everything. After the explanation, the two generals were shock at hearing that. Though it didn't take more than 15 minutes for Zonic to explain everything, they were still shocked at what he told them.

They knew that their leader will be finding love soon, but they never thought that he would find it in such a way. Of course, its not their choice on how he should find love, but it did still had them wonder though, oh well, you can't fight against fate for these kinds of situations. Tough, there is one thing that really got them thinking about, and Zespio asked Zonic. "Sir, if you don;t mind me asking, what exactly is it about this intruder, or rather, stranger in this case, that really got you so interested in him?" Zonic thought through for a moment before answering. He didn't know how to answer. There are many reasons on why he is interested in him, but he guessed the most striking thing that got him interested in him was how much he knew about him, when he has never met him before he intruded.

"Well, when he and I were able to converse with each other at that time, he did seem like he knew a lot about me, despite not having any sort of communication with each other." And the to generals nodded at that. After their little talk, Zector and Zespio left to their missions, and left their leader for his next two weeks of rest, and during that time, Zonic continued to wait at the exact same spot of the teleporting station. Once his month of rest is over, he immediately went back into service, and his zone cops were very happy to have him back on the move again. As he was continuing his work, he would go to the teleporting station at any given opportunity to wait for the stranger, that is...until today.

A year later, Zonic was given a dangerous mission to infiltrate the universe's most evil scientist, Doctor Ivo Eggman Robotnic, and sabotage his equipment to delay his attack on a planet known as Mobius. Even though Mobius already has a line of defenders of the planet, known as the Freedom Fighters, the No Zone Cooperation still thought it would be great to help a little here and there, and in this case, they have discovered that Dr Eggman has a dangerous plan to wipe out the Freedom Fighters, so they couldn't let that happen. They told Zonic that he had to unfortunately do this mission alone, because they couldn't afford having Eggman figuring out that it's not just the Freedom Fighters that are going up against him, so they are putting their faith on Zonic to stop him from putting his insane plans into actions.
