Chapter 3

The next day, Zonic walked down a hallway back to his office after having a meeting with his higher ups about their plan for his mission, and as he walked, those who happen to pass by the zone cop leader would come up to him and give him their prayers for a safe return from the dangerous mission, as it he will depart for it tomorrow early afternoon. Once he has returned to his office and settled down for a bit, he started thinking of the stranger once more, and where he could be. Seeing as he knew so much of the zone cop all on his own without needing to physically be with the cop to know, there has to be some resourceful point in the universe that is able to have a great access to the zone somewhere, but he can't think of that now, he has to focus on the mission tomorrow. 

Soon, the next day came, and it's time for Zonic to go, and hopefully return. Everyone gathered at the teleporting station of the north building, where Zonic will be using a warp ring to bounce between the dimensions. He wore a black suit with dark blue armor to help him blend into the shadows of Eggman's base, with a regular helmet that every zone cop has. He won't be having his gun, because this mission is to only sabotage Eggman's equipment. Not cause casualties. Even if Eggman deserves to have some form of injury, the thought of giving Eggman an injury for the sake of it just doesn't feel right.

Once the warp ring ready and opened, Sonic puts on his helmet, and slowly walks through it, to lessen the chances of making noise in the base, and setting any alarms off. Having to know The Freedom Fighters of Mobius, they are known for "making an entrance" when it comes to stopping Eggman's invasion, and with their leader looking exactly like him in this world, and also known of creating the "making an entrance" move, he wouldn't dare to risk it. Once he has entered the base, the warp ring portal behind him closed. Leaving him alone and having no other way back to the no zone prison.

"Aright, let's do this" He thought to himself, as he slowly navigated through the base secretly, pass the robots, and every camera with skill, until he has reached his destination. The hanger, where all the robots that Eggman keeps for later on. Now he has to set the bombs as he was instructed, but it won't be easy. There are many robots in the hanger maintaining, constructing, and guarding the entire area off an intruder. It is honestly a miracle that he hasn't been spotted yet, because he knows for certain that the doctor has upgraded his robot's scanners, and can be easily spotted at any moment. Come to think of it, now that he got a good look at the situation, Zespio would be the one best suited for this mission, because he is able to turn invisible. Therefore It would easier to put the bombs that way, but oh well. No way to change now.

Zonic carefully made his way pass the door without getting noticed, and hide behind the foot of the enormous robot, that is under construction at the the top at the moment. Some nearby patrolling had took notice of him, but were uncertain if they did spot him or not, so they did not check the area of which they spotted him in, which is a relief. With a silent sigh of relief after making sure that none of the robots have seen him, he went on to attach the bombs to every large robot that either being built or maintained. However, the hanger is a difficult room to navigate secretly, because there are robots everywhere in this room, even behind the enormous robots, for various reasons, so having to go without being seen is practically impossible.

He has to drive all the robots, or at least most of the robots, in the room away from the hanger somehow, and there is only one way he can do this. Since the air vents that are around the room also have the same number of robots guarding them, lowering his chances of going to another with ease, he has no other choice but to show his face and attack the robots, while finding a way to destroy the enormous robot army that Eggman is building. He took a beep breath, before running out and attacking the first robot he came across. Once he got the attention of all the robots, he immediately starting running down the hallway to make it seem like he was trying to escape, but once he was far enough from them, he looks up to the ceiling and uses a sling-shot to escape into a vent.

Once he was in, he immediately closed it, and watched the wave of Robots pass by him. Once the last robot has passed by, he sighed in relief before proceeding to crawl through the vent, and make his way back to the hanger, so he can finish the mission. However, when he reached the hanger, he can see that there's still a lot of robots in the room. Meaning that Eggman has a lot more robots than he thought, and that destroying his robots will be a whole lot more harder than he thought as well, but he has to pull through, even if he will get injured along the way. After a quick look at the area, he had a rough idea at how he can pull this off, and took a deep breath before he proceeded.

He burst out of the vent he was hiding in, and quickly moved through sharp turns he passed each robot and put a bomb on each foot he came across while racing away from another hoard of robots behind him. The alarms sounded as he continued racing, Eggman is sure to know that he's here by now. He came to the last robot and placed the last two bombs, and he tried to escape, but the robots were already blocking his way and trapped him at a corner. He readied his arm gun on his left arm, but did not aim it, as Eggman came in front in his hover vehicle. "So...it's you. For a second there I thought you were someone else." Eggman said he took his spot in front of the zone cop.

"I am well aware of who you are referring to by the way, and don't think that you have won, just because you have me cornered. I may not be Sonic, but I too have my ways of escaping." Zonic said with confidence, and Eggman laughed at this. "Oh? Do you really believe that? I doubt so hedgehog. For you see, this isn't the only base I have on Mobius, so I have plenty of robots to spare of battle. The way I see it, you have just into you own pit of doom for coming into my most top secret bases. Robot! Take aim!" Eggman said, adjusting his mustache. Zonic begins to sweat as he think of how is going to escape. He couldn't run past the robots because he's not fast like Sonic is, any possible opening through the robots are little to none.

However, there is one way, but he's unsure if he will survive this method. He looks back up at Eggman, as he reaches into his pocket and takes out the detonator for the bombs he placed. Eggman noticed what he is doing and quickly stand from his seat to get a closer look. "What are you doing?! What is that for?!" He demanded as he began to feel a shiver down his spine, and Zonic smiled at him. "This is the detonator for the bombs that I have placed all over this base. My mission is to destroy this base and I will complete my task." He said.

Eggman grinned evilly at Zonic. "If you detonate this base now, you will kill yourself with it!" He laughed evilly, and Zonic simply smiled as he closed his eyes. "That's fine, as long as I know that I have others out there who can stop you and your evil plans, I'm fine risking my life to ensure that your latest plans won't hurt innocent lives." He said as he puts his finger on the button, and pushes it. "NOOOOO!!!!" Everything seemed to become a white blur to Zonic after Eggman screamed, and when his vision finally cleared, he found himself laying in the debris of the base that once stood in this very spot. He tried to get up, but any muscle he moved, sent a huge wave of pin throughout his body. He couldn't move at all.

Zonic laid there with his eyes half opened as he stared at the flames at slowly began to get bigger, engulfing the entire area where the base was. He didn't know what to do. He knew for sure that his communicator was destroyed during the explosion, so there was no way to get help, and he is basically paralyzed at this point from the amount of pain he's in, so there's no way he can get to safety on his own either. For the first time in his life, he felt hopeless. He actually thinks he's going to die by these flames. His vision begins to blur slightly the more he remains where he, but as he continued to stare at the flames, he begins to see a figure walking right through it, and towards him.

Zonic continues to watch for as long as he could while his vision is still somewhat clear, until the stranger eventually came to him and slowly put his arms under him to pick him up. Zonic groaned in pain as he was lifted off the ground, and turned to face the stranger. He couldn't see him properly as his vision began to fail, and is on the verge of passing out. "It's okay Zonic. You're safe now." That was the last thing he heard before he closed his eyes, and pass out.
