You know how they say that when you like someone you become blinded to their faults. That's not necessarily true. You still see their faults but you grow to see them as insignificant, accept them, and sometimes even grow to like them. I loved her crooked smile and her thin lips suddenly became absolutely perfect.
We had talked a few times since that first day. It took me about a week to finally get the courage to ask her out on a official date. We went to a movie. Before I left I passed by my sisters room and noticed that she was making bracelets. I saw one with a little plastic music note on it. I wasn't planning to give Jamie anything but I thought it would be perfect. My sister let me have it since she had about a hundred. That was the first gift I ever gave her.
While most 15 year olds were out loosing their virginities Jamie and I decided to take it slow. I liked it because it gave what we had the opportunity to become something real. We didn't even have our first kiss until we had been dating for more than two weeks.
There was woods near our school. We would go walking there all the time. One day I took my video camera and recorded everything as we passed.
" you really like to do that don't you? Video tape stuff" she asked.
" yeah. And edit the footage. You should see some of the effects I've added to some of the footage I've taken" she smiled. "What?"
"You just get really excited over that." I blushed.
"I just get a real rush from making things virtually blow up." She started laughing.
I don't know why I did it. It's not like something extremely romantic was happening between us. She didn't give me that look in her eyes telling me it was ok. I just felt compelled to do it. I kissed her.
She was taken aback but quickly kissed back.
And even though we shared so many kisses after that, that was has been and always will be more special.
