he missed jenny.

nothing was the same without her; he felt lost.

he wasn't allowed many visitors and so days passed by slowly in the hospital. (almost as slow as they did in the darkness.)

he thought back to previous months and how jenny always found ways to pass the time. she read to him on multiple occasions, and they would play board games, too. sometimes, they would even cook together.

(on bad days, she liked to lock him in the basement for hours on end, maybe even days, and he would often spend time scratching drawings into the walls. he imagined the two of them, standing side by side, in front of a suburban house with a picket fence. a little family.

he wondered if she ever cleaned the blood off of the walls.)
