Chapter 13

Naomi's POV

"Hey, Sera chan, how did you come to know of Kazune?" Ako asked, sipping on her cup of tea. We were currently having tea at my home, which is basically Kazune's.

"Hmm, actually, I have no idea." I drawled out, tapping my finger on my chin.

"Oh yeah, you did say that you lost your memories right?" Mahiru replied, grabbing a sandwich slice in the process.

"When was that, Fina?" Misaki asked this time, placing her cup on the matching plate.

"Hmm, if I remember correctly, I lost my memories about maybe 3 months ago? Kazune told me that I was an orphan and lost my memories due to the impact and shock of being hit by strong magic."

Ako's POV

That lying snake! But Seraphina said that she lost her memories 3 months ago, and it's been about 5 to 6 months since Naomi went missing. So what happened during that 2 to 3 months?

"Hasn't Kazune told you anything else? Like maybe how you met. Or haven't you thought of wanting to regain your old memories?" I asked.

"Actually, when I went to Wonderland a few days back, Kazune and Queen Mother were talking about something weird. Queen Mother said that Kazune wasn't telling me something and that he made a mistake, but Kazune won't tell me what they were exactly talking about..." Seraphina drawled out.

"We need to help you get back your memories!" Mahiru suddenly stood up, causing the chair to drop.

"Wait, what about the fairies? They must know something, right?" Misaki voiced out her thoughts.

"Gaia, Knight, Kitsu." Seraphina called out to them.

"Yes, Seraphina Oujo?" Knight asked, bowing.

"What do you know about my old memories?" Seraphina asked them.

They froze up slightly before Gaia replied.

"Whatever do you mean, Oujo?" She giggled out, but it was strained.

"You know something." I stated, pointing to them.

"We can't say anything! He'll get rid of us!" Kitsu looked like she was on the verge of tears.

"Kitsu!" Knight scolded her.

"He who? Kazune?" Mahiru asked.

"I apologise, we can't say anything." Gaia stated and pulled along the other two to leave.

"Wait, so Kazune is threatening the fairies? How powerful is he to be able to do that?" Misaki questioned.

"He never did talk about his powers, and he owns this entire property we're on..." Mahiru added.

"He's not who he appears to be..." Misaki continued.

"Let's go." I suddenly stood up and looked at all of them.

"What?" Seraphina looked really confused.

Naomi's POV

What was Ako getting at?

"Let's go! We're here, where he lives, we can find answers!" Ako stated.

"You think I haven't tried? I've searched my room and his, the entire library. Every cabinet and chest in this house, but have found nothing." I let out in frustration.

"Does he have a study?" Mahiru asked.

"Of cou- wait, actually, I never got the chance..." I answered, thinking about it.

"Then let's search now! I'll ring up Natsume and get him to call Kazune to tell him that something's up in the council." Misaki explained, pulling out her phone.

We looked and each other and nodded.

Misaki rang Natsume up, sparing him the details and asking him to do so.

"Hey, Sera, I'll be heading back to school for a moment. They said there was something wrong with the reports. I'll be back soon, be safe." Kazune came over and gave me a peck in my cheek before waving goodbye to the rest and heading to the portal room, I assume.

We waited a few moments, snacking and drinking up the rest of our tea.

"Let's go." Ako nodded to us and we headed into the house to his study room, with me guiding them.

"Don't mess the room up, we can't have him getting suspicious." I reminded them as we entered the room.

We opened all the drawers and looked through all the cabinets but couldn't find much that could be helpful to us.

"Pst!" We heard a small voicing calling to us. Looking to the bookshelf was Kitsu. She was pointing to a specific book before disappearing.

"She must be hinting us! Let's check out thats book." Mahiru stated as I had already started to walk over to the bookshelf.

The book was very thick and had a hard ref velvet covering. Weird, unfamiliar, gold letters printed onto the velvet cover.

I took it into my hands and opened it up.

It was like a secret casing. There was an empty space cut out and in it was an amethyst pendant.

"Wait, that pendant looks familiar." Mahiru started. "Isn't this Naomi's pendant?"

"Naomi?" I asked. I remembered hearing that name a few times but never knew who she really was.

"She's this girl from our school who used to date Kazune around 5 to 6 months ago before she went missing." Misaki started explaining.

"What are you talking about? Kazune told me we had been dating for a really long time, before I lost my memories and everything." I was really confused at this point.

"I'm not sure, what she was a bully from what I remembered. But for some reason I can't seem to think that she's bad now..." Mahiru drawled.

Ako who looked as if she were holding something finally exploded.

"That's because she wasn't! You guys don't remember but she used to be our friend and altered all our memories for some reason and Sera... you're Naomi." Ako whispered that last part.

"Wait, I suddenly remember now, it's all coming back to me! But how long have you known Ako? That Seraphina is Naomi, how are you even sure?" Mahiru was tearing up at this point but started questioning Ako.

I was currently in a state of shock, I couldn't think of anything. Nothing was making sense.

"For about a month now, Kaya told me." Ako muttered.

"Wait, I don't get it. I-I can't get it!" I was clutching my head and squatting on the ground, the book fallen on the floor and the pendant still in my hand.

"Then put that pendant on." Misaki said with such certainty.

I looked up to her then to the pendant.

Standing up, I let out a breath and put the pendant on.

I suddenly regained fuzzy memories of my old life and a few memories of when I was still friends with them, and when I was isolated after altering their memories. Nothing else.

"Sera, your eyes, their back to their purple state!" Ako exclaimed.

"I remember a few things, their blurry, but I remember. But I can't remember what happened after that ball..." I told them, picking up the book.

"Let's continue talking about this later or in school, Kazune will be back soon. Listen up closely Fina, we don't know how Kazune will react if he finds out we know, so for now, pretend like you don't. Pretend you don't know your eyes are purple again and if he asks, act dumb about it. Take off the pendant for now and keep it out of his sight." Misaki explained as she took the book from my hands and kept it back safe.

"Now let's go back, we'll discuss this again tomorrow in school." We all went out of the room and headed back to the garden, all dazed.
