Chapter 41 - Bikini

They take a taxi home and the second Jo opens the garden gate, Canelle comes running up to her. He keeps meowing at her, as if he wants to tell her all about his adventures. And Jo responds to him like she understands, kneeling down to snuggle him. Dart smiles down at the sight of them and immediately feels at home. 

Jo picks Canelle up and the cat climbs onto her shoulders, settling down like he belongs there. Dart stares at the cat, who is laying around her neck like a stole, with his eyes closed and purring happily. Jo scratches the cats head and walks up to the door, like it's the most normal thing in the world. Dart follows them and Jo opens the door. She walks in and sees Minous coming from the bedroom. 

Jo carefully sits down on the couch, with Canelle still in her neck and pats a spot next to her on the couch. Minous jumps up and finds a comfy spot on Jo's lap. Jo pets her with such a happy smile on her face, that Dart doesn't have the heart to complain about the cats. He puts the suitcases in the bedroom and sits down next to Jo. Jo smiles at him and he comes closer to pet Canelle. 

When he leans over to kiss Jo, Canelle puts his paw against Dart's mouth. Jo lets out a hoarse laugh and whispers: "That's not very nice Canelle. I love him too, you know." But Canelle glares at Dart as if he's saying: "If you try that again, I will hurt you." 

Dart glares back at the cat and says: "I know you missed her. But she's mine. You'll have to at least share, Canelle." 

Jo whispers: "I think that's the problem. You haven't been sharing me much with them lately, have you? They feel like you kept me away from them."

Dart gets up and walks over to the kitchen. He opens the cupboard that holds the cat food and Minous is already getting up. Jo smiles and pets Canelle, whispering to him that he should go and eat. Canelle gives her hand a lick and then jumps down to walk over to the kitchen. Dart smiles and feeds them both. 

He walks back into the living room and sits down next to Jo, pulling her onto his lap. "What would you like to eat gorgeous? How is your throat?" 

Jo speaks softly and hoarse: "It's better. Doesn't hurt any more. Cheese pizza." 

Dart's eyes flash with desire and he takes a moment to compose himself. "Want to go over to the cafe?" Jo nods and gets up. Dart winks at her and holds out his hand to her. They walk out together, smelling the air and smiling at everyone they run into. 

When they walk into the cafe, Jo sees Jake standing at the bar with his back turned to her. She sneaks up on him and wraps her arms around him from behind. Jake immediately turns around and lifts her off the ground with a wide smile. He spins and puts her down, instantly hugging her tight. Jo takes in his scent and sighs happily. Her voice is still hoarse when she exclaims happily: "I'm home." 

Jake looks down at her and says: "Are you sick?" Jo shakes her head and looks at Dart, who immediately blushes. Jake follows her gaze and chuckles. "Ah I get it. It's his fault." Jake lets go of Jo and walks over to Dart. Dart looks worried for a second and then Jake pulls him into a hug. "Welcome home man. I thought I told you to take good care of my little sis?" 

Jake tries to look angry, but Dart says: "I did!" 

Jo walks up and says: "A bit too good." They laugh and Jake takes them into the kitchen. 

"Let's sit here, because the second the regulars figure out Jo is here, we won't be able to have a minute to ourselves. They've been coming in here every day, asking if she's back yet. Armed with magazines and newspapers for her to sign." 

Jo looks at Jake surprised and he smiles. "Yeah Jo, you're famous now. And I have a lot more customers thanks to you. Even had to hire some help, because me and Maria couldn't handle it alone. Hired a young guy and a girl. I think you'll like them. I already know they like you." Jake winks at her and asks: "Hungry?" Jo nods and Jake asks: "Cheese pizza?" Jo smiles wide and Jake says: "You've got it, sis!"
