it was saturday, and minho's house was unusually loud. well, it wasn't actually that unusual though.

in fact, as it was now a tradition, every two weeks, minho's family used to invite over their friends, the bang family.

their son, chan, was a close friend of minho's and so they actually enjoyed those boring family lunches and dinners their parents always organised.

that day, they had invited them over for lunch, so as they enjoyed the home-cooked food by mrs. lee, the dining room was filled with chatters and laughters.

chan's parents were definitely more amusing than minho's, according to the latter's opinion, but he still appreciated his own. sometimes he just wished they were less strict.

"boys, we're done here. i can see you're visibly getting bored, you can go up in minho's room and enjoy your time together, sounds good?" minho's father asked, clearly looking for an excuse to make the two boys leave.

they both nodded and stood up, silently thanking whatever their parents needed to talk about that allowed them to get away from that room.

"oh my god," chan breathed out as he closed the door to minho's room behind his back. he let himself fall face-first on the younger's bed and groaned.

minho chuckled, "what's wrong? this is probably the first time i see you even more annoyed than i am."

"i just can't stand my parents' conversations anymore, ugh. they keep talking about marriage-"

"marriage?" minho's voice expressed his clear confusion, so chan rolled on the bed ending up on his side and nodded.

"yeah, they stated i'm old enough now that i'm about to finish school and i should start thinking about marriage... and they also have a few options in mind..." minho scrunched his nose.

just the thought of finding a girl and ending up in a forced marriage with her made his stomach turn in disgust.

chan laughed at his grimace and shook his head, "don't worry, minho, i'm not getting married anytime soon."

minho fake sighed and sat down next to his friend, "good, i was already afraid i had to find a good suit to be your best man."

they both chuckled, their laughters slowly fading into the silence of the room, their parents' voices barely audible from downstairs.

minho lost track of time and ended up in a world made up by his thoughts, his eyes fixed on a spot in front of him, as his mind wandered back to that jisung boy.

an image of the drawing he had made of him quickly flashed before his eyes, making him feel warm. he felt as if he could feel jisung close to him and he didn't even understand why he felt that way.

he barely knew the boy's name and that they went to the same school. he didn't understand why he felt so attached.

he almost slapped himself for even going up to his house and capturing his slim figure in a drawing- okay, maybe he didn't just think about doing that.

"woah," chan called out, making him flinch and stop with his hand in the air, "minho, why are you slapping yourself on the face?"

the younger widened his eyes and turned to his friend, his cheeks a pale red, "uhm, n-nothing," he stuttered.

chan raised his eyebrows in confusion but shrugged it off, "so, what have you been doing these days? i haven't seen you in a while."

"mh, nothing special... i just studied a little bit," minho half-lied, his mind immediately going to jisung, hoping chan wouldn't ask him anymore questions.

"have you heard from your sister?" the elder asked. he had always had a soft spot for minho's sister, they loved playing together when chan would hang out at their house when they were little.

"oh yeah, minseo is doing fine... she- she's got a boyfriend,》he quickly looked at chan. he had never openly asked him, but minho always thought chan had a crush on his sister.

"oh really? i'm so happy for her. do they go to college together?" he asked, sounding genuinely curious and happy for the girl.

"yes, they just met in a very cliche way, but don't ask me about it: it's too cheesy to be told," chan immediately laughed at his friend's typical words, slightly punching him on the shoulder.

"alright, alright," the elder raised his hands up in defence, "but what about you, uh? have you met someone?" chan's eyebrows raising a little at that, while he looked straight into the younger's eyes.

minho quickly moved his gaze to the ceiling, feeling a weight on his chest, "nope, i'm fine by myself."

chan groaned, "c'mon, don't be like that~ we all need someone by our side," chan simply stated, making minho's heart shrink in despair.

he honesty knew that but somehow he never managed to actually find someone who was willing to risk it all for him.

and so he had settled for staying by himself.

for now, at least.

"hyung, do we really have to talk about my love life?" minho whined.

"okay, i'll stop, but just know you can always come to me if you need anything, alright?" chan softly spoke, leaving a gentle pat on the younger's shoulder.

"yeah, of course. you can count on me, too," they briefly smiled at each other, their friendship could be felt through their sincere smiles.
