the sun was already up in the sky when jisung and his mom left their house to go to the market. as usual, jisung was carrying the heavy bags so his mother wouldn't hurt her back, even though she always told him she was still young enough to carry them. then jisung would kiss her on the top of her head-now being slightly taller than her-and the two would start their day.

that day, the sky was a bit cloudy and the shadow often covered their figures in the streets. the market was already filling up, the typical smell of spicy food coming from a certain area, while you could hear the sound of artisans working from the other side.

"mom, i'm putting the bags here and i'll open the doors," jisung offered, immediately going to the entrance of their stall and opening the old, worn-out lock.

"we should brobably change it," he said, showing the lock to his mother,"buy a new one, before someone tries to get in."

a slight slap reached the back of his head, "stop speaking nonsense and open the door, young man!" his mom said, faking anger when in reality she was hiding a smile. she actually loved how caring and protective of her her son was, she felt really proud of him.

when they finally set everything in the market stall and they were ready to start selling, his mother suddenly remembered something.

"hey, jisungie?"

"yes, mom?"

"last time i told narae i would borrow one of her products for a while... would you mind go search for her? and thank her for me," she smiled.

"okay, tell me what you need and i'll go."

jisung was already on his way, whistling a popular song of those days, when he recognised minho's figure in the distance. he automatically picked up his pace and reached the stall he was looking for.

"good morning!" he said out loud, for both mother and son to hear.

minho was the first one to notice, a huge smile spreading on his face as soon as he recognised his friend.

"hello, jisung! what brings you here?" the older asked, surprised to see him there.

"my mother wanted to ask something to yours so i was sent here as a carrier pigeon," he explained, stifling a laugh as minho nodded with a smile.

"alright, i'll call my mom"

it took a few seconds before both mother and son got out from the back of the store, narae already displaying a joyful smile resembling her son's.

"hi, dear. it's nice seeing you, what are you looking for?"

jisung bowed, greeting her, before he explained what he needed, including a few utensils and other stuff he didn't exactly recognise.

"i'm sorry but i can only help you with some of them. unfortunately, i ran out of some of the materials your mother needs, but they sell it at the east sector of the market. you should look there," she offered, an apologetic smile on her face.

"alright, thank you so much," jisung replied, ready to leave. but before he could walk away, narae's voice stopped him.

"don't go alone, i'll have minho accompany you," both jisung and minho widened their eyes, since any of them wasn't expecting that kind of offer.

of course minho couldn't refuse-mostly because he didn't want to-, so he nodded, took a little money to bring with him, and left with jisung.

their first stop was jisung's family stall, so he could inform his mother on his whereabouts. after getting her approval, and giving him some more money, the two boys got back on track.
