Evelyn

I wake up the next morning, ready for another day at the ward. Not really, though.

I stretch as I rise from my bed and slowly walk towards the bathrooms, shutting the door behind me closed. I turn on the shower letting it run so it can warm up while I brush my teeth. I spit out the paste and rinse my mouth with water.

I strip from my night clothes and step into the now scorching hot water. I flinch from the hot water, a squeal leaves my mouth as I try to adjust the temperature to a comfortable level. This always happens to me. The water is now cool enough for me to enjoy. I step under the shower head, letting water drip down my hair and down my body.

I lather the roots of my hair in my apple scented shampoo and quickly rinse before placing the conditioner towards the ends of my hair. I finish off my washing my body and lazily running a razor over my legs, getting rid of the stubble beginning to grow. After I finish, I step out and dry myself off.

I glance at the time on my phone and realize I've been in the shower too long... again. I always seem to get carried away when I'm in there and I can't help it.

I quickly throw on some underwear and a bra and search for one of my clean jumpsuits. I throw a tank and some shorts on to wear underneath the dark suit. I button it up and throw on my boots, I grab my phone and head towards the kitchen. I don't have much time to eat so I grab a banana out of the fruit bowl on the counter, along with my keys and purse and head out the door.

"Jeez, Evelyn! There you are!" I see Maddie walking towards me in the break room.

"What? I'm right on time!" I say pointing to the time on my phone.

"Yeah okay," she rolls her eyes playfully. "Anyways, What patients do you have today? I wanna go out tonight, it's Friday!" She squeals.

I rolls my eyes back at her. Is it really Friday already? "I only have Harry, remember? Abby says he needs a lot of care and she thinks that if I have other patients, it'll distract me a bit."

"Oh, right! Well in that case, we are going out tonight! There's a club in downtown London that just opened up and I think we should give it a try." She says, taking a sip from her Starbucks coffee.

"Of course you do." I sigh, exaggerating the emotions in my voice. She gives me a pleading look, pushing out her bottom lip so that she's pouting.

"Pleeeeeease?" She begs, dragging out the word. "I won't stop bothering you until you agree."

I shake my head at her behavior. "Fine, I guess it couldn't hurt."

"Great! Do you think we could meet there?" She asked, tossing her empty cup in the garbage.

"Yeah, just text me the time and the address." I say. "Alright, I gotta get to Harry."

We bid our goodbyes and walk in opposite directions. As I continue my walk towards Harry's room, I can't help but feel my nerves rise. What if he's a completely different person today? I know Abby said he can be manipulative and it's pretty obvious this man has serious anger issues. He was quite easy to talk to yesterday and I hope it's the same today. Maybe he'll even open up a little more.

When I read his door, I knock three times before reaching for the knob and letting myself in. He lays there on the bed on his back throwing the same ball from yesterday in the air and catching it. His attention turns towards me when he realizes someone walked in the room and a small smile replaces the frown he had moments ago.
