Later that evening, Mal sat at the dinner table with her brother and mother. It was a normal dinner in the Grantley household aside from the tension in the air. The bags were packed in the foyer and waiting to be loaded into the truck the next morning aside from the bag with their most immediate needs.
"You remember what we ask of you?" Maleficent asks as she cuts a large chunk out of her oddly shaped steak. She was still wearing her horns, but instead of a veil over them there was now a long black lace veil pinned in her blonde hair. A black dress that hugged her curves replaced the lace one but she still wore her cape.
"Yes. You want us to get your staff and the Fairy Godmother's wand. We need to take down the barrier and then help you take over Auradon." Fabian nods reciting what was said at the meeting after the royals left. "And then the three of us will rule together over the heroes and villains. Even though the Villains helped us."
"Very good" The Mistress of Evil smiled. "And as soon as possible. Then we'll be off these cursed ruins forever."
Mal played with her food, listening to the conversation. She wanted to go to Auradon for a new start. To see exactly what kind of citizen she was supposed to be in Astoria. And who knows.... Maybe she'd find out who her father was. Fabian talked of him a little from what he remembered. But he did remember him, he left when Mal was a baby. Some say he found a loophole in the barrier. But there were many stories on the Isle and Mal didn't know what to believe.
The next morning came as if you had just blinked. Mal packed her last few items in her bags after she got dressed. She wore a green blouse with bell sleeves and a purple corset with a black overlay on top of it. A purple skirt with a lime underskirt and a magenta shawl tied at her waist completed her look besides a pair of simple shoes. Her violet hair was pulled in her normal half up with her white bow perched in place.
Mal made her way down the stairs with her last few bags just in time to see her brother walk over to help Cosette, Gaston's daughter. The girl was a beautiful blonde and dressed in red hunting clothes not unlike her father. She seemed by her body language, to be confused about Fabian. She would take a step towards him then a quick step back. Almost as if she was dancing alone. But Cosette always did this with Fabian, and Mal, for one found it amusing.
Mal sat on the stairs of the Villa as their bags were being loaded onto the moving truck. She'd already watched more bags then should fit go into the truck and figured it was enchanted. As evident by her bow, that good magic worked in the barrier. So maybe that's why her candle lighting worked but her spirit summoning or any potions did. Mal shook her head of the distraction thoughts. She was trying to eavesdrop on her brother but the fair Cosette was already walking away carrying a small cage.
"What was that about?" Mal asks as Fabian stepped towards her. Fabian sighed and spun to sit beside his sister on the step before answering her question.
"The King's servant was trying to force her to put her lizard in and she didn't want to. Afraid he'd be crushed. So I helped her to talk him out of it. He eventually agreed as long as she didn't let him out and was okay carrying him with her in the car." Fabian sighed leaning back and folding his hands behind his shaggy dark emerald hair.
"Wow, you must be her hero" Mal laughed rolling her emerald eyes at him.
Fabian laughed. "Yeah well at least I tried. A girl like that would never go for me."
"Oh don't say that. You are the prince of darkness" Mal shoved her brother. "You can get any girl you want to."
"Whatever. I'll believe that when I see it." Fabian laughs. "So are all being a prince has got me is a place at stupid meetings in a monkey suit. Unlike that Prince from yesterday."
