It was a foggy night as a violet haired toddler ran through the streets after a a cloaked figure. The figure got in a boat and began to paddle towards the iridescent barrier.
"Daddy no!" The girl screamed from the edge of the water as the boat got farther away.
The cloak figure briefly split the barrier to paddle through it as the girl cried on the shore. A figure picked her up softly and comforted her as they carried her into the night.

Mal sat up quickly in a sweat. Her breath heaving as her heart beat quickly. Her memories were plaguing her again. She pulled her knees to her chest trying to slowly calm herself down.
Fabian, Mal's older brother appeared in her doorway. His longish emerald hair in messy bed head. A look of concern over his features. "The dream again?"
Mal nodded slowly. "Yes, why is it so detailed?"
"Awww Mally." Fabian came to sit beside her. "It's just a nightmare of a traumatic memory. Don't let it get to you."
"Where did he go?" Mal asks softly knowing her mother's rule about talking about their father.
"Mal....you know I..." Fabian started before seeing his sister pout at him. "Fine. He's probably in Camelot where he and mom are from."
"You think so?" Mal ask a hopeful gleam to her eyes. "Do you think it's like the stories?"
Fabian gave her a look stopping her from grabbing her book of stories. "You know the rules, Mal. Besides it's a council meeting day."
"Do I have to go?" Mal pouted.
"Of course you do. It's a full Isle session. We have visitiors. " Fabian smiled.
"Visitors? From the mainland?" Mal asked excitedly. She loved seeing the people of Astoria and getting news from them. Even if her mother and the other villains detested it.
"Yes, now go on or you'll be late for your appointment with the Tremaine's" Fabian said nudging her towards the door. Mal hesitated going towards her closet door before Fabian stopped her.
"Your stupid bow. They have everything but you and your stupid white bow" Fabian rolled his eyes at her.
Mal touched the perfect white bow in her violet hair. "It's not stupid it's....."
"A prized possession. We should all have at least one" Maleficent smiled in the doorway dressed in her long black robe. Her blond hair pulled up into a matching scarf.
"Yes mother as you always say" Mal nods her cheeks flushing.
"You are going to be late. And you know how our enemies feast on any imperfection we give them." Maleficent says pulling her daughter's chin up at her.
"Yes mother" Mal says her green eyes staring into her mother's. "I was just leaving."
"The goons await you with the car, my dear." Maleficent smiled letting go of Mal's chin. "So go before I change my mind."
Mal ducks out of the room quickly and runs down the stairs of their villa and out the door to the awaiting car. She settled herself in the seat and watched as the car made it's way across the Isle to the Tremaine's boutique and salon.
"I hate these days" she muttered as she walked into the crowded salon. Other villain daughters were in various stages of getting ready as Mal looked around the studio. Completely unaware of what was headed towards her.
"Mal!" Evie excitedly hugged her best friend. Dressed in a perfect navy blue robe with her dark blue hair up in rollers on top of her head.
"Hey E" Mal laughs turning to truly hug her best friend. Evie was vain but she was sweet as can be if she thought you worthy. And her designs were to die for. "Did you finish my dress?"
"Of course I did" Evie smiled. "And got it approved by your mother. "
'Really? She let you change it!" Mal smiled happily. "I didn't think she would. You know how she is with tradition!"
"I'm well aware" Evie laughs. "But she liked a more grown up look for you."
"That's surprising" Mal laughed. "When do I get to see it?"
"Soon" Evie promises. "But first you need hair and makeup. Before Drizella gets even more angry with you."
Sure enough, Mal looked up and saw Drizella tapping her foot beside an empty chair. The chair beside it had Evie's heart box purse in the seat.
"Oh look, they kept us together." Mal laughed.
"They know better than to separate us" Evie laughed as they made their way to Drizella. Once they reached the chair, Mal sat in the open chair and Drizella draped a cape over her.
Evie handed her a rolled up piece of parchment with a sketch of Mal's new hair do on it. Drizella studied it closely biting her lip. She looked it over a few times before turning to Evie.
"And Maleficent approved this?" She asks with a hint of concern.
"She did." Evie replied triumphantly. "And that's why Mal's appointment is with mine now."
"Okay." Drizella says before turning Mal around so she wasn't facing the mirror. "And we're not letting her look until the entire look is done."
"Exactly. Why spoil a perfectly good secret?" Evie laughed as she applied her own lipstick.
"E, sometimes I hate you and your crazy ideas" Mal sighs as Drizella handed her the white bow and began to brush out her violet hair.
"It's just a new hairstyling for the meeting." Evie promises. "Nothing super drastic."
"I might kill you if it was." Mal warns.
"You would." Evie agrees. "And I would've never gotten anything drastic like that approved with your mother."
