Chapter 1

Math had gone by fast and I was already out of the class, man, new boy sure was quiet, I kinda just started thinking about him.

"Emily, you ok?" Ryder asked and I looked at him

"Huh?" I asked, he had taken me outta my thoughts

"I was trying to ask you what class you had next." Ryder said and I nodded, I reached into my math book and grabbed my timetable which was in between a few stuff but I managed to get it out which it was a bit torn but whatever.. hm, lets see.. I had science.

"Science, what do you have?" I asked Ryder and I saw him think for a moment

"Gym." He said simply, I hated gym and took it for summer school which was just before school starts, it pays off and is easier on me and my asthma.

"Didn't you take gym for summer school?" Ryder asked me and I nodded "Yeah. My asthma attacks have stopped." I replied and he smiled.

"So, I'll see you later." Ryder said and I nodded, I then watched as he waked over to the gym doors, I started heading towards science, I then looked and saw a glimpse of that new boy.. what was his name again? He was heading towards me so I whirled around and stared at him, he stared back..

"Are you following me?" I asked clutching onto my books, he looked at me and shook his head

"No, I'm sorry for following you." He replied and hurried off probably to his next class, I watched and kinda felt bad for bursting out at him I mean, that was totally uncalled for and rude of me.. I hope I see him again, when I do I should probably apologize.

I walked into my science class and took a seat next to Scarlett who gave me a friendly smile, I smiled back, I then started opening my books up and taking notes out.

"Who was that new boy you were um.. talking to?" She asked, great, she saw that I wonder who else saw.

"You saw that?" I asked her, I stared at her and she nodded

"Yeah, you seemed pretty angry with him. What pissed in you're corn flakes?" She asked and I just rolled my eyes at my friends 'humor'

"No one, I just thought he was following me so I.. asked him if he was." I told her and she laughed

"I saw that too, made a couple people turn their heads and start asking questions or something, you know, something everyone always does when they see that." Scarlett said as the teacher came into the room, he set some vinegar on the desk and a penny.

"Does anyone know what this will do?" He asked and some people shook their heads while others raised their hands, he called on one of the people holding their hand up.

"Turns the penny a different color?" The student said and the teacher nodded

"Yes, it does and what we are going to do is put some vinegar on this paper towel, you're all listening right? This is going to be on you're quizzes for tomorrow.." He started and he put the penny in the paper towel, he then took it out and put it on a dry paper towel.

"Tomorrow we will see what happens to this penny but for now we are going to write down notes and then talk." He said walking over to the desk and started to write stuff down, we all started writing stuff down in our science books, I hated writing notes it took up too much space.

"Oh and tomorrow we are also going to the lab." The teacher said and I heard a few groans, I didn't know why people hated the lab it was actually kinda fun, I felt my pocket vibrate and took my phone out, it was a text from Matt.

'Hey, did you need someone to pick you up after school?' I thought about it for a moment, I havent talked to Matt in awhile.

'Sure. You know what time school ends?'

'2:20, how could I forget? See you after school, kiddo.' I smiled, Matt was like an older brother to me, ever since Liz died and my mom Matt and Selene have been like an older brother and sister to me since I had no family after they died.. it was sad after that and moving from Newbury to Greenwood Valley was pretty hard especially having to leave Selene and Matt was hard too.

Class went by slowly but eventually the bell rang and everyone was out of their classes going to lunch, I sat in the cafeteria with Amber and Scarlett.. and my book.

"Why don't you just put down that book?" Amber asked before stuffing one last strawberry into her mouth, I lifted the book from my face and looked at her.

"Why not? It's a great book." I told her as Amber and Scarlett's boyfriends sat down next to them

"Hey, girls." Amber's boyfriend, Kyle said and kissed her cheek, soon enough Ryder sat by me, I still didn't take my eyes away from my book though.

"Hey, Emily." I heard him say and I looked at him, he smiled and I smiled back

"Hey, Ryder.. why you over here?" I asked and he stared at me, he usually sat at a table with the popular people WHICH included miss popularity, Jessica Marbling who totally had the hots for Ryder and totally hated me.

"Just wanted to say hi and find out what you're reading." He replied with another bright smile, I smiled back and showed him the cover of the book, he stared at it for awhile.

"What's it about?" He asked as I continued to read my book and tell him what my book was about

"It's about a girl who turns her entire school.. or almost into vampires so she has a guy help her and in the process starts to fall in love with the guy." I told him and he nodded

"Sounds like a good book." He said and I nodded, "It is." I replied simply and flipped the page to the next.

"Maybe we could, i don't know.. read it together sometime?" Ryder asked and I tried to keep myself from blushing and looked up at him.

"Sure." I replied as he got up

"It was nice talking to you." Ryder said and I nodded, he started walking back to his table, as he did I saw Jessica glaring at me, one point for Emily Reedwen.

After lunch I got my stuff out of my locker and went to my next class not forgetting about lunch with Ryder, why did I have so much feelings for him? Besides why would be like me I mean, I'm dull and.. Went through family trauma I'm nothing compared to Jessica who has perfect hair, perfect life and an actual family.

"Are you coming to class?" New boy asked waving his hand in front of my face, I state at him and instantly remembered what had happened, I saw new b- Adrian look at the ground and put his hands in his pockets.

"Look. I'm sorry about bursting out at you today.. It's just I thought you were-"

"Following you. I'm sorry, I wasn't trying to.. I had to go in the same direction as you.." He said as he bit his lip, weird, he's very weird.

"Ugh, yeah.. Well let's get to class." I said and he nodded, we then walked into our class and sat down, I loved communication technology, it was a lot of fun and I love taking pictures.

It felt like the first two classes had gone so slow and period three had gone so fast it was now last period and I found myself walking to my drama class where I had to unfortunately spend with Jessica.

"Well, if it isn't Emily Greedwen." Jessica said and I rolled my eyes, she came up with really lame insults.

"Please, Jessica, tell me why you're calling me Greedwen this time." I said in a heard-it-a-million-times voice.

"You lied about you're mom and sister being killed, everyone knows you only did it for fame, well you're not fooling me and you're stealing Ryder from me.. Boyfriend stealer!" Jessica said in a low voice and glared at me, saying I was lying about my family was pulling a string.

"First, I didn't fake my family's death they were killed and Ryder chooses who he wants its not a competition." I said simply and I swear I saw steam come outta Jessica's ears as she stomped to the other side of the stage, I smiled at myself.

*Hmm, Adrian still seems a bit.. Weird, wonder why we'er gonna have to read on and find out
