Oreo, Jessica, and Walker were at school, they were at their last period and it's history what's the best part is that they have the same class and what's best for them is when they get assigned seats they sit together that's the beauty of your last name.
The teacher was teaching them about Hispanic Heritage Month "Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America."
"The observation started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period starting on September 15 and ending on October 15. It was enacted into law on August 17, 1988, on the approval of Public Law 100-402." Explained the teacher
"The day of September 15 is significant because it is the anniversary of independence for Latin American countries Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on September 16 and September18, respectively. Also, Columbus Day or Día de la Raza, which is October 12, falls within this 30 day period" Explained the teacher
"So I want all of you to get in a group of three and write about how your heritage makes you who you are and yes this is a project" said the teacher
Marra then raised her hand and asked"Mr. Hopper what if we're not Hispanic"
"That's the assignment write about your heritage it doesn't matter if your Hispanic or American it matters if you know who you are" said Mr. Hopper
Mr. Hopper then handed out the papers for what they need to do, Oreo, Jessica, and Walker were looking down at their desks they looked like they didn't want to do it, everyone were doing their work in class for at least and hour, but once the bell rang everyone left
