The next day at school I planned to walk over, hand him back his cell phone and leave. The thing was I didn't want to leave. I wanted to hang out with him, be around him.
After 3rd period I saw Tanner leaving through the back doors with a couple of friends. I recognized one of them, Melody; she was one of the many girls who had told me they had a crush on me or what not. I had pretty much turned her down flat, same with most other girls that asked me out; if you want to call it that.
I ran out after them accidentally tripping and smacking into Tanner from behind. We both stumbled but steadied ourselves. He turned around and looked at me; turned away from me and immediately grabbed an excited looking Melody and started to walk away.
"Hold on Tanner, lets see what Jessie wants" she said pulling away. "Did you wanna talk to one of us Jessie?" she asked with a flirtatious grin.
She was very compared to most girls, long chestnut hair, bright green eyes and sharp feature. On any other guy the smile may have worked but I wasn't interested in her.
"I'd actually like to talk to Tanner" I said. Melody looked shocked; she glanced over at Tanner with a questioning look.
"Its okay Tanner, you can meet me and Lewis at the café later. See ya!" she yelled as she ran off with the other boy that had been with them.
"So what do you want to talk to me about? Still don't get the English homework?" he asked. He seemed different from yesterday, more dark and dangerous. His hair was gelled in a messy yet stylish way, his black t shirt was tight enough to show off his toned body and the blue hooded vest was a nice touch.
"I came to return this to you" I handed him the cell phone.
"Thank you, now I have to go to lunch so good bye"
"Wait!" I yelled. He stopped and turned around again.
"Could we talk, I mean some were with less people" I said. He looked at me for a second.
"Alright, come with me" he led me to the schools green house, part of a go green project. No one ever went inside, it was only for people who were on school comities or had a key. In Tanners case he had both.
We stepped inside, it was warm and the plants were concealing from anyone outside. We walked to the back were Tanner dropped his bag and turned to me.
"So what did you want to talk about?"
"I want you to kiss me" the words came out before I realized what I was saying. But it was true; somewhere inside me I wanted to kiss him. It was there when I saw him blush at the restaurant, when he sat beside me, even before I new he was gay. A part of me was worried and another didn't care. When I looked at him his eyes looked angry. He went to shove past me and leave but I put my arm out and held him against the greenhouse wall.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"You think this is funny? Making fun of the one openly gay student at this school? Are your friends waiting with a camera or are you just going to tell them the details later?" he said, his words full of hurt and fury.
"No that's not it!" I said panicked. "Look just hear me out okay?" he stopped struggling and just stared at me. "Alright listen; never in my life have I ever been attracted to anyone of any gender, or race or anything. Yesterday I saw you and talked to you and for once in my life I was attracted to someone and it was you. I need to know for sure so please jut kiss me" I finished. He seemed to hesitate a moment.
I leaned my lips to his collar bone and gently brushed them all the way up his neck; he tensed for a second but quickly relaxed again. He met my lips half way to his, our lips touched and it was like nothing I had ever experienced. My heart was beating faster; my stomach was fluttery with a good nervousness. I suddenly wondered how far I could go; as his mouth parted I slid my tongue into his mouth. I met his tongue with mine and they entwined each other, I traced the ridge at the top of this mouth and his tongue did the same. When out lips finally parted we were both panting hard. His face was flushed and I imagined mine was to.
"Alright, if your done I need to go" Tanner said picking up his bag a little shakily.
"Wait why dont we eat lunch together?" I asked.
"Jessie, your captain of the football team, popular with girl and you'll probably get a scholarship and go to a top university. I've tried your type before, I don't want to repeat that experience" he said leaving me wanting more.
