17 Smiling Tears

CINDY POV

It was around 3AM when I heard some noise in the room. I open my eyes only to see Yoongi's back beside my father's bed. He locked eyes with me who just woke up from my nap on the couch. Taehyung and Choa visited earlier and they just left around 30 minutes ago after I hush-ed them away since it's pretty late.

"Yoongi? Where have you been?" I rubbed my eyes a bit before approaching them. Unlike usual, he actually looked nervous.

"My dear Candy, Yoongi have something to tell you." I turned to my father who keep this warm smile on his face before I stared back at Yoongi.

"What is it, Yoongi?" somehow he keep biting his lips. Then I managed to catch him turn to meet my father's gaze and he give him a tiny nod, still keeping that warm smile.

"Cindy, listen to me." Yoongi inhales deeply and grab my hand with one of his hand. That's when I realize he was hiding something with his other hand. "I talked to your father about this and he gave me his blessing." He started and my heart start to beating fast.

"W-What do you mean?" I don't want to jump into conclusion, I need answers.

"I know I'm not the perfect boyfriend for you but I know I could love you perfectly for the rest of our life. I'm also not good at words nor a romantic guy you could find in the movies but I'm very serious about planning the future together. So, if you let me put this ring on your ring finger and willing to spend your whole life with me. Let's get married." w-wait, what?

Yoongi pull out a box of the wedding ring. It was beyond beautiful. It's simple but classy and I like it, but I don't understand.

"W-what? Yoongi, if this is a joke, I-" of course he wouldn't let me finish, doesn't he?

"This isn't a joke, Cindy. Why would I joke about this, you know I'm bad at jokes." He tried to hold my hand while I'm making myself busy searching for the answers in his eyes.

"Why suddenly? Why now?" I don't know what makes me spit out that questions but I know I got it right when Yoongi's expression changed, his pupils shaking and I could feel my father touching my hand.

"This is my last wish, candy." No. no. It can't be true.

AUTHOR POV

You froze as soon as that word slipped out from your father lips. Yoongi couldn't say anything either. He knows that you need time to proceed everything.

"W-what are you talking about, Dad? Stop joking.." You laugh it away but you could feel your tears threatening to fall as soon as you saw his face. You knew it.

"No, sweetie. You know I'm bad at jokes too, like Yoongi." He let out a weak laugh before grasping your hand and hold it tight. "Listen to me, on the first day I met you, I knew that you're a strong girl and now you've grown up so much to a strong beautiful woman. Like I always said to you, you're always gonna be my favorite daughter. My one and only. But you know I can't stay with you forever, right?"

"D-Dad! Stop this-"

"And I was beyond happy when you found someone, someone like Yoongi." He reached out to grab Yoongi's hand and put it together with yours, you could feel your tears falling down miserably at this state. "I trust him and I know he would take care of you when I'm not around anymore, sweetie." at this point you keep shaking your head while Yoongi wasn't doing good either. He tried so hard to hold back his tears but seeing your state makes it harder for him to breathe properly.

"And my last wish is to see both of you get married, Cindy. That's why I asked Yoongi about it and I wish you would say yes to him." He added still with that warm smile that makes you cry even more.

"Dad, why are you doing this to me? You can't leave me like this. You just can't." you keep shaking your head, hoping that this was just a painful nightmare and someone will wake you up.

"Would you grant my last wishes, my dear?" He asked with hopes and tears in his eyes. Even though it took you a while to give an answer, you turn to Yoongi who looked as bad as you.

You know Yoongi is good at hiding his real feelings and he has been trying to not shed a tear but now that you look closer, his eyes were so red for holding back too much.

"I will, Dad. I will marry him. Doesn't matter if he propose tomorrow, next year or right now? My answer will remain the same. I love him." you talked as if Yoongi couldn't hear you but in fact, you were staring at him when you said those words.

His heart flustered and you notice a small smile beaming from his lips.

"I love her too, Dad." and he use the same way to reply you before he pulls out the ring. "Taehyung, Choa. Please come in." To your surprise, Taehyung and Choa suddenly appeared with smile and teary eyes.

"Y-You two were here all the time?" you asked as they approaching you.

"We need them to be the witness." Yoongi assure you before four of you surrounding your father. When he saw that you're ready, Yoongi inhales deeply before he start.

"I, Min Yoongi, take you, Cindy Park as my wife from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us apart."

"I, Cindy Park, take you, Min Yoongi as my husband from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us apart."

Even though it takes everything in you to say the vows back, you finally did it with tears flowing down from your eyes. Yoongi took the wedding ring and put it to your ring finger softly as you do the same to him.

Your father, Taehyung and Choa witnessed the scene with smile and tears on their face. It's so beautiful yet so painful.

"Thank you my candy, thank you Yoongi and all of you for granted my last wish. Now I could go with ease. I love you, Cindy." your father whispers and just like how he fall asleep, he close his eyes slowly still with that warm smile plastered on his face.

"No! Dad! Dad!! Please answer me." you burst into tears as you keep calling him and reach for his hand, but he's not there anymore. You knew it but you just refused to believe it.

He really waited until he saw both of you united as one in the wedding vows. He could see the smile behind those tears in your eyes, but he knew that you're happy and you're in love with Yoongi. Thus, he finally could feel ease and let you go by yourself.

Later, after you calmed down a little, Yoongi finally explains about your father's sickness and everything he hide from you. He never leave your side and so does Choa and Taehyung. They help you with all the preparation for the funeral since you can't even manage to gather yourself yet.

Your one and only family left. What are you supposed to do?

"Cindy, they're here."
