Peter was ready for class to be over. He loved science, but the way Mrs. Burke taught it, made it terrible. She had the most monotone voice and she made ten thousand examples for things everyone in the room understood, but if someone had a question it was the last thing she went over if she even went over it. She made science class boring. Honestly, she could make a conversation about the avengers boring.
The bell rang and everyone rushed to grab their things, "Hold on everyone. I need you to stay for a moment. I have something I need to give you all." Everyone groaned and plopped back into their seats, "Glad to see you're so excited." She rolled her eyes.
"Do you think this is about you putting Mr. Harrington's tires on the roof and me helping you?" Ned asked just below a whisper slightly worried.
"Nah, there is no way they'd be able to narrow it down this much." Peter said calmly, "Calm down Ned. We have amazing grades and we don't start fights. Teachers love you, man,"
"We are going on a field trip this Friday." Mrs. Burke said calmly, "I sent your parents an email about it, but the permission slips are up here. This is going to be a surprise field trip, so you don't get to know where we are going."
"That's not mysterious at all," Peter mumbled.
"Grab your permission slips on the way out." Everyone grabbed their things and grabbed a permission slip, "Peter stay back."
Ned and Mj gave Peter sympathetic looks as they walked out while Flash gave him taunting glare. Peter just rolled his eyes. Flash had started trying to mess with Ned recently which only made Peter angry.
"Yes, Miss?" Peter said as he stood at her desk.
"I can't allow you to go on this field trip, Peter. You've missed too much school to go on the trip. Not to mention those awful rumors that have been going all around the school. With all of it added together we can't let you go. Especially if it was you that started the rumors." Mrs. Burke said.
"What rumors, miss?" Peter asked politely.
"Don't act so oblivious, Peter. I know you know about them. I mean, how could you not?" Mrs. Burke crossed her arms.
"I don't know what you're talking about, Mrs. Burke. I promise," Peter said calmly.
"For goodness sake's Peter. The ones about you having a Stark Internship. Everyone in the entire school has heard them, and everyone knows it's a lie." She said harshly.
Peter swallowed his feelings, "It's not a lie miss. I work every day." He said as he fiddled with his fingers, "Ask my aunt." Which may or may not be Natasha posing as Aunt May, but she is still technically his aunt. Not everything Peter did was a lie.
You see, Peter was a Stark biologically, but when Pepper started to get suspected as pregnant, Tony's enemies started targetting him and his family more. The simple answer was to have Pepper have the baby in secret and they could figure out the rest as time went on. Once Peter hits 21, he is going to tell the world who he is. Both Spiderman and a Stark.
"I'll have to talk to her about encouraging these charades then. Dismissed." She said as she rolled her eyes. Peter sighed before walking to his locker.
