Johnny woke to the sound of a thud coming from outside their room. He looked over to see that Peter wasn't there. He checked the clock to see it was six am.
"It's times like these I really miss having a Herbie," Johnny mumbled to himself. Johnny's hand lit on fire as he slowly went to the door. He opened his bedroom door and hid behind the wall expecting to be attacked. When nothing happened, Johnny jumped out ready to throw fire when he saw him.
"Shit," He breathed as his hand went out and he ran over to him on the floor.
"I'm okay, I'm okay," Peter said weakly.
"Hmm, sure," Johnny replied sarcastically, "Come on, my webbed freak, let's get you to the bathroom so I can look at the damage."
Peter groaned as Johnny helped him up, "Watch the leg, watch the leg," Peter rushed out repeatedly as he lifted his right leg off the ground.
"I got you," Johnny said as he lifted Peter up bridal style. It was in no way easy, but he managed to get Peter into the bathroom. Peter stifled a cry as Johnny placed him on the counter, "Sorry, baby," Johnny apologized before flipping on the light.
Peter's suit was nearly destroyed, and both of them had quite a lot of blood on them. Johnny gave Peter a sympathetic look before he opened the drawers next to the counter and pulled out the first-aid kit. He pulled the scissors out of the kit along with a cotton ball.
"Hold this to your nose," Johnny handed Peter the cotton ball, "How did this happen?" Johnny asked as he began to cut off the top of Peter's suit.
Peter sucked in a breath when Johnny began to peel off his suit. Johnny repeatedly apologized as he did so. Peter's eyes shut as he continued pulling off the suit.
Johnny hated seeing the people he loved like this, especially Peter. Peter worked his ass off and risked his neck the most out of everyone he knew. Sure, he was the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, but no one seemed to realize just how dangerous New York had become. Queens wasn't just another city anymore, it was arguably one of the most dangerous places to live. With four high-tech labs nearby, and the Avengers close by, Queens seemed to get attacked constantly. Not to mention the people who specifically targeted Spider-Man and the Human Torch for countless reasons.
"I can see the headlines already," Peter scoffed before wincing as Johnny began patching up his shoulder. Johnny apologized again but asked him to continue, "Spider-Man fails the city once again-" Peter cut himself off when Johnny brushed his leg. He pulled his leg towards him slightly as he bit his lip.
"Hey, I need to look at your leg," Johnny said as he looked at Peter as if his whole world was falling apart. Peter took a deep breath before nodding with his eyes closed. and relaxed his leg, moving it back to where it was at first.
Johnny cut away the piece of fabric that was covering the large gash in his lower thigh. Johnny could tell that Peter was using every ounce of self-control he had not to yell or move. Johnny tried to think of comforting things as he examined the cut. He began reminding Peter of the first time they met.
Johnny absolutely hated this. All he wanted to do was hold Peter's hand and take away all of his pain, but he couldn't do that. He had to hurt Peter to help him and he hated every second of it.
"I have to stitch this up," Johnny said sadly.
"It's okay," Peter assured Johnny with a weak smile, "I can handle that," Peter nodded.
"Tell me more about what happened," Johnny said as he pulled out the needle and string, "Like why didn't you wake me?" Johnny asked a little harsher than he intended to. He immediately began apologizing, but Peter cut him off.
"I knew you needed the rest. I woke up and it was four am- argh, and you looked peaceful. It was only supposed... supposed to be... Doctor Octopus," Peter winced slightly.
"Hey it's okay, I'm done with your leg," Johnny soothed as he gently cupped Peter's cheek and pressed their foreheads together.
"I'm okay," Peter assured him.
Johnny grabbed some gauze and gently wrapped it around his arm. He grabbed a large plaster and was about to put it on his side when his eye caught something in it. Johnny gently pressed on it. Peter winced, "Is that glass?" Johnny raised an eyebrow.
"I may have gone through a window or two- Ow!" Peter hissed.
"I'm sorry baby," Johnny apologized as he used tweezers to pull out some of the glass, "Who else ambushed you?"
"Doc-Oc had help from an Atlantian and a powerful one at that," Peter explained.
"I'll enjoy locking them up," Johnny said before pressing a soft kiss to Peter's forehead, "Let's get you cleaned up."
