Chapter One:Laila

Haylie and I went to the beach on this gleaming, hot day in California.I sit on the sand there watching him.Tanner is the only guy I ever loved as soon as I met him.I first met Tanner in grade 4 and as soon as I met him I knew I would be in love forever.But now I'm in grade 10 and it's been forever since we have talked.I think the last time I talked to him was in grade 4 on February 14(Valentines Day)when I asked him to be my valentine and he said "No way!Gross!Girls have cooties!".We never talked ever since and now he doesn't remember me.Wow.Now I feel depressed.Maybe I should talk to Haylie.
"Hey Haylie.Wanna do something?Im kinda getting bored of sitting here." I told Haylie.
"Sure!I'll be right back.I think I brought my beach ball in the back seat of my car.We can play catch with it!"replied Haylie.
"Ok!I'll still be right here,but maybe standing up instead!"I sarcastically told Haylie.Haylie ran to the parking lot.
"Hey Laila!!".I heard Rider call my name but I didn't see him.
"Rider, where are you?"I yelled out.I stood there looking for him in front of me and side to side.Then all of a suddenly PAT!Rider plopped his hands on my shoulders from behind me and scared me!
"What the heck is wrong with you?!"I yelled.
"I'm sorry,Laila.I just haven't scared you in such a long time.Anyways, Jacob, Isabell,Carter, and I were wondering if you wanted to come play beach volleyball with us?Do you?"asked Rider.Of course Carter wanted me to play.He has the BIGGEST crush on me!He has ever since the middle school play, Sleeping Beauty, in grade 6 when I was Sleeping Beauty and Carter was Prince Charming and we kissed.Man, won't that dude EVER get over me?
"Sure,I'd love to play.But I came here with Haylie?" I said.
"She can play too if she wants I guess."Rider givingly said.Rider and Haylie used to go out but then Rider broke up with her because she was "too bossy to him".Just then Haylie came back with the ball.
"I'm back with the ball Laila!"she screamed.
"Actually I was thinking that we could play beach volleyball with Rider, Jacob, Isabell, and Carter.You wanna play too?"I asked Haylie.
"Sure!" Haylie answered.
"Okay!The teams are Laila,Haylie, and Isabell verses Me,Jacob, and Carter!We'll use Haylie's beach ball."Rider told everyone.Everyone went to their side of the net and got into position.I was in the back.
"Serves!"I yelled as I served the ball.Isabell bumped the ball and it went over the net.But then Jacob bumped the ball so hard that it went flying so I ran after it.While I was running I didn't realize that Tanner was done surfing and was walking on the beach so I ran right into him and we both fell down.At that moment I realized my life was over.
