I was also pleasantly surprised that Shan Shan (SS) would be my roomie in hall. Ah.. though we're already like buddies now, I really couldn't agree with some of his… well, habits. How to I put it? Everything is too neat. The first day when we moved in I remembered he cleaned the entire bunk till it was so clean, that you could probably rub your bread against the floor and still eat it. Not that I am complaining though. He supplied a printer too, and we partitioned the room such that the printer became the line of divide. He also brought in a portable nice little keyboard… too bad I couldn't play music…
Lectures and tutorials would soon start and it felt kind of nervous to go back to mugging days that were not seen since JC era. I thought I would purchase some textbooks and just start reading up a few chapters. After all, being studious can never be wrong. With just slippers and shorts and an army grey singlet, I got out of my room and lazily walked down the stairs, hands in my pocket. Just as I turned around…
I saw Rin at the car park. Immediately reminded me of that day, her faint smell and blushed cheeks. I could feel my blood pressure rising and pulse heightening. Forget that I'm not wearing appropriately. This was an opportunity not to be missed! I walked in her direction… No, im not stalking her. I just… wanted to walk that way, yes, bookshop can be that way but just a little further. When she looked in my direction, I waved at her and smiled.
"Are you going out?" I tried to sound off-hand. Strategies of how to stalk her were rapidly forming in my head.
"Yeah, going out to buy lunch. Are you buying lunch too?"
"Yeah, of course! Why not… maybe we eat at the canteen together? My treat for saving me back at the beach…" well, if God gives you food, He's telling you to eat it. If God puts a girl in front of you, Almighty is telling you to chase her.
"Haha.. It's nothing. Come on then! Im really hungry…" Loved her soothing gentle voice.
We went to MacDonald's and chatted over lunch. I found out she's studying Biological Sciences. Cool, I have always loved science. F=ma huh? But I guess more importantly, I have to perform the boyfriend check. Facebook may suggest an absence of a boyfriend but that doesn't mean she really didn't. We stalkers all know this, didn't we.
Go emo, I remembered one of my best friends saying this. Girls like it when guys engage in emotional talks with them, the supposed shortcut to their hearts.
Rule Number One: Lower her guard by telling her something about yourself. Make sure its relevant ones.
Look at her, Zack, look at her. Let her catch you looking at her then look down and smile to yourself.
"what are you smiling about?" she quizzed innocently. The fish caught the bait. Time to reel her up.
"You remind me of my ex girlfriend," I tried to blush, I didn't think I succeeded.
"Is it? Are we? How do you tell?"
"Both of you chewed on your straws. And you all had a strange habit of trying to push the chicken fillet of your burger all the way to one side, leaving the last bite with minimal bread but lotsa chicken.."
