Chapter Two
First week of classes went by stressfully, all new information, along with strict professors, and short nights sleeps from having to get up so early. Once walking into her first class at university, it felt like she could finally breathe. No one knows her here. No one knows the rumours or the secrets. She can start fresh and be the person she wants to be.
The good news from this busy week is Talise got a call from the library and has an interview today. She feels good about this job, like she'll possibly succeed. She's sitting at her desk in her room, going over her answers to questions she may be asked in the interview.
"Hey Talise". Gabby comes in and sits on her bed.
"I'm a little busy for the interview, Gabby".
"Yeah I know. I just wanted to ask about your date with Arsen after the club last week given we haven't had a chance to talk?"
"It wasn't a date", Talise says, but still not able to get his piercing gaze out of her head while he sat across from her at the cafe.
"Oh come on". Gabby grins and raises her eyebrows in a suggestive way. "I've known him for two years and he never asked me out. He was all over you on the dance floor".
"We just talked about what we're studying and stuff, you know".
Talise found out Arsenio is actually a student at the university much to her surprise. He looks older than what he is but he's only twenty-two and he's studying a law degree. Most of their so called date was spent her entranced by his voice as he spoke about his plans to become a lawyer. He was interested when she spoke of art. In his eyes, an artist is someone with a huge life story who has the creativity to express it. He plans on finding out each detail about her, especially the noises he can't wait to hear her make.
"Are you going to see him again?" Gabby asks.
"I gave him my number. Gabby, we can talk later, it's time for my interview". Talise smiles thinking about her job opportunity. She needs this. Talise stands up and grabs her purse.
"Good luck". Gabby gives her a quick hug before Talise leaves the apartment.
Arriving at the interview, the elderly woman, Daisy, who interviews her is very welcoming. They talk about what her duties will be working here, her income, what hours she'll work and more. The income isn't as high as Talise would like but she can deal with that. The duties are easy and doable, which seem relaxing to do after a long day of classes. The hours are afternoon to late evening shifts as Daisy can't work late anymore. There's only her and two others that work at the library. By the end of the interview, Daisy tells Talise she has a good chance at the job and will let her know in a few days. Talise walks out of the library feeling good.
Talise walks down the street, taking note of the different shops and where she's going to shop when she gets her pay check. Her phone rings and she sees Arsenio's name.
"Hello", she answers.
"Hello Talise, would you like to go to dinner with me tonight?"
"I can't really afford to go to an expensive place". Talise figures she should keep the money she has.
"It's on me".
"Sure", Talise sighs.
Dating can't hurt. She's in university after all. But with the heartache she went through with the last guy, opening herself up again may not be the best idea.
"Great. I'll pick you up at seven".
Talise goes home and goes through her closet to choose what she's going to wear tonight. Once laying it out on her bed, she goes to the kitchen to have a snack. She goes to Gabby's room and doesn't knock before opening the door, which has her seeing a man wrapped in a sheet on top of Gabby.
