I am astounded how Dalton still goes on. He loved me ever since the day we met but I am so sorry, for I couldn’t reciprocate the love he gave me. It’s partly my fault, I never explained why I let him hope too high. One thing Dalton and I had in common, we both loved The Script. I was left with no goodbye and he was rejected. I played a new favorite song of mine, entitled ‘No Good In Goodbye’.
Where's the "good" in goodbye?
Where's the "nice" in nice try?
Where's the "us" in trust gone?
Where's the soul in "soldier on"?
I'm alone and lonely
Cause I don't own the only
I can take this mistake
But I can't take the ache from heartbreak
Can't take the ache from heartbreakAs I played it, I remembered Ardent, my ex-boyfriend. He was my prom date, my prime, my lover and my saddest song. When I was about to sleep, he suddenly texted me.
Ardent: Hey, Divine!
Me: Oh, Ar.
Ardent: Wanna grab some cup of coffee?
Me: Sure. When?
Ardent: Next week? Monday?
Me: Okay. See you then.
Ardent: Same place. Same time. Missed you.I couldn’t believe what just happened. The last text message he sent me was when he said we were through, which was like more than a year and a half already. I had no idea if joy or pain must be felt.
Then that day came. I arrived at Starbucks, I saw him sitting on a chair with two cups of coffee.
“Hello, Divine!” He greated me.
“Hi Ardent.” I replied.
“It’s nice that you came.” He told me.
“Why are you doing this?” I asked him.
“Well, it has been a while but to tell you, I’m sorry. I didn’t just leave you with no goodbye, I cheated on you.” He told me.
“Oh, you’re just making it more painful.” I told him.
“I’m sorry. It was hard to be faithful especially that I am far from you.” He said’
“You’re such a fool.” I cried.
Then I saw Dalton, he smiled then he walked away. I saw him ran away.
“I’ll make it up to you I promise, Prom’s next moth right?” He asked me.
“Yes, and?” I replied.
“I’ll be your date, if you’ll allow me.” He proposed.
“Okay, anyway I’ll leave you here. I have to attend to more important stuff.” I said.
Dalton, he saw us. It would hurt him. I inflicted more pain on him. So I texted him.
Me: Dalton, where are you?
Dalton: I’m with Pietro, Wayne and Kaitlyn. You forgot that it’s the Christmas meeting of Carpe Diem. It seemed that you were so busy.
Me: I’m so sorry. I’m heading there now.I forgot about my friends just because of Ardent. Honestly, I still love him although it did hurt a lot. When I arrived, they were packing things up already.
“I’m so sorry.” I said.
“Pietro’s drunk!” Wayne shouted.
“I’m not drunk, I just feel frenzy.” Pietro replied and he keeled over.
“Wanna help us?” Kaitlyn asked. “So how are you and Ardan… Arden…?”
“Yes.” I replied. “Ardent. We’re just fine.”
I saw Dalton, he was folding the table mat.
“Dalton…” I said.
“Oh, are you fine?” he asked me.
“I’m sorry.” I said.
“Don’t be sorry. Don’t be sorry for being real. Anyway, Merry Christmas!.” He replied and handed me over a box. It was a bracelet, which I did love for it was stars worn on my wrist. “Thank you, Dalton!”
“You’re welcome! So you already have a prom date?” He asked me.
“Yes.” I affirmed.
I saw the sadness in his eyes. As if he was to cry but he still smiled. So I just hugged him.
