"Beep, Beep, Beep"
Alex laid on the horn of his two thousand seventeen S- Class Mercedes Benz while stuck in traffic on i94. He was late for a meeting once again because of the unexpected construction.
Being late for a top priority client wasn't a good look. After what seemed like an eternity Alex finally made it to the property where Corey "Cooda" Chavis and Mrs. Novak were waiting.
"I'm sorry, traffic was kind of crazy getting out here."
"It's okay, let me introduce you too, Mrs. Novak, she's here from up north and looking to purchase a new home."
Cooda and Alex grew up as brothers from another mother. They started a Real Estate business together, but there was more to the business than just houses and turning profits. Cooda was into money laundering, and drugs on the side. Growing up poor, made your hustle different.
Cooda wasn't the finest man in the world, but he had sex appeal. His medium build frame pushed through the doorway of the beautiful two-story brick home.
"This home is beautiful. When was it built? Why are the owners trying to sell for so cheap?"
Mrs. Novak came prepared, and she was more prepared than they knew. Mrs. Novak a.k.a Cherry Powers was the best undercover reporter. No one actually knew who she was. She had the hottest podcast out called "The Unapologetic Report". She gave it to you Raw, Real & Unapologetically.
Alex and Cooda had been on her radar for a while."The owners were a young couple that decided to downsize to one of those tiny houses." Said, Alex
"Those things are pretty interesting but I need space. Can we tour the rest of the house ?"
Before either one of them could answer, Cooda's phone started to ring. He looked down at the phone and then slightly looked up at Alex. He knew it was important and that they had other things to do today.
"I'm sorry, I have to take this. Alex can show you the rest of the house," said Cooda as he started to walk away.
"Don't worry, Mrs. Novak, I promise you're in good hands."
They toured the home pretty fast, like something important was about to go down.
Cherry knew she needed to be wherever they were going to be.
"Can I see the kitchen one more time? That was really my favorite room. I would love to cook on that stove."
"Sure, I'll just be right here in the foyer waiting for you."
Cooda stepped back in and began talking to Alex, as Cherry planted a listening device on top of the refrigerator. The kitchen was always the hangout spot for people.
As Cherry slowly walked down the hallway leading to the foyer she could hear their voices getting closer.
" I can't do this deal alone. He's going to be ready at ten o'clock tonight," said Cooda.
"Tonight is the award ceremony for the Black Businesses. One of us has to show up to that."
Cherry stood there listening before her phone started to ring loudly. Forcing her to pretend to be walking and looking in her purse. It wasn't anybody but her pain in the ass of an ex-boyfriend. Who always called at the wrong moments.
"Mrs. Novak, Did you like what you saw?" said Cooda with his arms opened wide.
"I'm going to think it over, but I have to get out of here. I have a few things to do today."
