The police precinct was cold but smelled of hot coffee and regret. Some people were there willingly, and some people had committed whatever crime they could think of. Today would've been a normal day in the eyes of the law. Criminals doing criminal things, but today the criminals were those same police officers that took an oath to protect and serve.

"Who are the suits in there talking to the captain?" asked Umar

"Internal Affairs, I heard they're coming down on Cap hard," said Officer Mercer

"Damn, what did he do? Or is this about something else?"

"What's up with all the questions? You scared they here for you?" chuckled Officer Mercer

"No, but I am nosey." laughed Umar

He was right, Umar was scared as shit. It's one thing to be fired but being a dirty cop was a different ball game. Umar would lose everything for his family, and he would go to jail. He had no clue why they were there. That was the best thing about working alone, he knew the other dirty cops in their precinct, and from others. They weren't a click, but they did kinda look out for each other. The two reps for Internal Affairs walked out of Captain Anderson's office with a look of disgust on their faces. Whatever was said in that office couldn't have been good. A few moments later Captain Anderson came out to make an announcement.

"Can everyone listen up for a moment? For everyone that didn't know that was Internal Affairs, they're here to clean house. Everyone here is under investigation until further notice. "

People in the office whined and sighed because of a few bad eggs. This was something no precinct wanted. Especially, the ones with a lot of dirty cops like this one. Police officers didn't make a lot of money and in Detroit, most of the drug dealers were getting paid and to them that was free money. Snitching was against the code, and you played the game how it was dealt with.

"Officer Shannon, Can I see you in my office, please?" said Captain Anderson

"Yes, Cap, here I come."

Umar sipped his stale hot coffee, before getting up. He slowly walked over to the door his adrenaline was on a million, as different scenarios flowed through his mind. He could feel the entire precinct was looking at him, but he didn't dare turn around. As he lightly knocked on the door, sweat beads dripped down the back of his neck.

"Come in Shannon," said Captain Anderson

"What's going on Captain,? "

"I know you don't enjoy working with a partner but Monroe is out on leave, so you will be partners with Bristol until further notice."

"When does that start? Does Bristol know?"

Officer Keir Bristol, was one of the top officers in the city, she was awarded by the Mayor for being the hero of the year. The thirty-five-year-old was a hero and a hottie. Her mocha brown complexion, short hair cut like Toni Braxton, and her athletic figure filled out the plain uniform. She was known citywide, and she just got partnered with a dirty cop. Umar didn't know if he was being tested or not but he knew he had to be smart. Everything he did from here on out could jeopardize his life and career.

" Everything will be effective immediately, this new case just came in," said Anderson handing him a folder.

" Okay, Captain, Thanks."

Captain Anderson nodded as he looked down at the paperwork barely given Umar anymore of his attention. He was grateful that the news wasn't bad, and he wasn't in there turning in his badge and gun. All eyes were on him as he exited the door with a grin on his face. Everyone wanted to be partners with her but he was just happy to be safe a little while longer.
