Love Come Down

Yellow tape blocked off Tanzy's house as a crowd of people gathered on the sidewalk. The sound of shouts and cries echoed through the streets as the two Diener's brought a body out. They loaded the stretcher into the coroner's van as the police gathered evidence, and talked to onlookers. It had been four days since anyone had heard from her. Cooda pulled up to the scene to see police cars everywhere. His heart began to pound when he saw Tanzy's house blocked off. He put his head down on the steering wheel as tears fell from his eyes. She was special to him, they had a long way to go, and Elon cut that short. He started his car and drove away with rage in his heart. Elon needed to die, and he was going to make Imani help set him up.

Cooda had a plan but what he didn't know was that Alex was in the hospital after a botched home invasion. They didn't talk every day so there was no need to reach out. He pulled out his phone to call Alex but Amina answered.

"Hello, Alex, where are you?" said Cooda

"I'm sorry, this is Amina, Alex was shot a couple of days ago. Are you his business partner? "

"Damn, man! I can't believe this shit. Yes, I'm his business partner, what hospital are y'all at?

"We're at Receiving. In-room 312"

"Okay, see you soon."

        Cooda headed to the hospital while on the other side of town Mario was having a meeting with his captain about Paris and everything they had been through.

"How long have you been in this situation? " said, Captain Harris

" A few weeks, but it was just a lot of text messages and calls, then she popped up once. Then back to calling and texting non-stop. "

"You should've told me about this sooner."

Before Captain Harris could tell him what to do one of his fellow officers came barging in.

"I'm sorry Cap but it's a woman out here demanding to see you."

Captain Harris told Mario to stay put as he went to the lobby. Ten minutes later he returned with a look of disgust on his face. He didn't know what happened within those ten minutes but whatever it was, wasn't good.

"Officer Drew, I'm going to ask a question and I want you to be honest with me because that's the only way I'm going to be able to help you, "

"What do you mean Captain? I've been honest with you about everything, "

"That was Miss Lexington in the lobby all beat up and bruised. She said you did it to her after she showed up at your place to get some of her things."

Mario's mouth hit the floor he couldn't believe what he had just heard. He wasn't a woman beater, he had never raised a hand to a woman before.

"With all due respect sir, she's a damn lie. I wasn't raised to treat women like that. I have three sisters and I would never want a man putting their hands on them."

"Listen here, I don't do drama at the workplace. You've always been a good officer, I'm going to investigate a little further but until then you're on desk duty."

Mario was pissed that Paris would stoop this low and accuse him of something so terrible. He got up and left the office with his head held high. He hadn't done anything to be ashamed of. All eyes were on him as he walked to his desk to finish up some casework. This just turned into a long day for him in more ways than he knew it.

"Brrinnnnnng"

     The sound of phones rung out as Phoenix pushed her way through the double doors of the lobby of her law firm. She hadn't been at work in a while because she was enjoying learning how to be a mother. The glow she had was piercing and hard to go unnoticed as she wobbled around.
