I walk into Mrs. Rose's room to see her standing at the front of the room teaching geometry. She turns her head to the door. To me.
"What was it this time, Davidson?" She asks, gloomily. This was the third time I was late to math class this week.

"Uh... I was just unpacking and um... I couldn't find my...my homework." I mutter. I leave out the part about how my best friend basically ditched me for someone she barely even knows.

"Hmmm. Alright let's pretend that's legitimate." Mrs. Rose says. She turns back to the board and continues her lesson. I take the seat in front of Stevie Parks. I ruffle through my textbook to find the page we're working on. Stevie taps me on the shoulder.
"What actually happened?" He asks. I look at him like he has three heads. We're not friends, so why would he talk to me?
"Why would I tell you?" I whisper back, sounding a little brattier than I had hoped. Stevie looks down at his desk sadly.

"I'm sorry. My friend is just being annoying." I whisper. He smiles.

"I'll be your friend if you need one."

The final bell rings and I head outside. I sit on a nearby bench and wait for Faith. Gavin is playing tag with his friends while he waits for mom to pick him up. He sees me. "Kirsten! Over here! It's Gavin! Your favorite little brother!!" He yells over to me. Everybody looks at me and laughs. I roll my eyes. Just then, I see Faith. Followed by Ness. They are both beaming. Faith sees me and walks over to the bench.

"Hey Kirsten." Faith says quietly.

"Hey." I reply. Ness says nothing.

"Um, listen so, uh, Ness and I were gonna go to my house and get ready for this party tonight." She says.

"Yah it's going to be super fun!" Ness exclaims.

"What about studying in the library?" I ask. Faith and I always went to the library on Fridays to study for any upcoming tests.

"Well I was thinking we could just reschedule. Besides, I don't have any big tests coming, anyway."

I knew she was lying because we have a huge science test on Tuesday.

"Oh ok." I mumble. I wasn't even invited to this party. They turn around and leave without saying goodbye. And I had a feeling this would be the last time I would see the real Faith.
